Rock is dead.

Going to a gig, going to another festival, or want to tell people about the awesome riff that you just worked out.

From what I've been told, they're immensely popular right now. And you can find something guitar related in their music so if you're deaf you could call them rock. Easy magazine sales for Rocksound; did you see how many pre-teen girls turned up to a Doncaster Rovers reserve team match because one of One Direction was playing? Buying a magazine they wouldn't usually be interested in is a lot easier than turning up to a football match for a team you're not interested in.

I bought Rocksound once a few years ago. It was awful, so I'm not really too surprised at this.

I only know them 'cause they supported One Direction at a concert I worked. They sounded like Busted if Busted were 14 year old boys.

Oh, so it's a band called 5 Seconds of Summer. I've never heard of them.

ehhh

My sister and I used to listen to some total lame-ass garbage like this. She liked Bros. I liked Kylie Minogue. And not cool Kylie, but, Scott-and-Charlene, Got To Be Certain, I Should Be So Lucky-era Kylie. We both liked New Kids On the Block and pooled our pocket money so that we could buy their second album. A couple of years later she made a tape of me that had Carter USM, Pop Will Eat Itself, Rage Against The Machine on it, and I introduced her to Nine Inch Nails and White Zombie and everything spiralled from there.

Point being, anything that gets people excited about music is a good thing. Anything that convinces people that music is something to be unguardedly passionate about is a good thing. The only thing that will kill rock is apathy. If people want to loose their sh!t over this goofy looking bunch, then fair play to 'em, as long as they remember how thrilling it is to hurl yourself unreservedly into music.

The one on the right looks terrified, like he's gone into a prison cell and its occupant is a twenty stone bald man saying 'well aren't you a pretty one. I'm going to call you Daisy'.

Band who's first tour was supporting One Direction in Arenas, then in Stadiums. Their tour coming up is in Arenas by themselves. Mental. No clue why they are getting coverage in Kerrang! and Rocksound.

Its not surprising they are playing arenas, never underestimate the amount of teenage girls that will flock to see bands like this perform. Its also not surprising that they can shift tickets as they offer them a fair chunk lower that bigger, more established names.

think of it like this, what did twenty and thirty somethings think of the beatles, monkees and the stones in the 60's

to these kids these are their beatles , momkees, bay city rollers, bros take that etc etc . its generational and as thorn said if it gets them into music they will find their own way , some will end up at reading fest some at bloodstock , as long as they listen and support music , its all good.
