As I Lay Dying and Testament are the only bands who have released new albums this year that I have bought. Iron Maiden released an album and Blind Guardian released a 'Best Of' with some reworked songs.

In terms of live shows I saw Dream Theater, Iced Earth, As I Lay Dying and Testament. The best was Dream Theater who have gone from strength to strength since Mike Portnoy left, proving the doubters wrong. Some people were saying that they had gone downhill after Portnoy left but they were so wrong. Some of those people post on this forum.

Well I don't think it was one of the best, but it was a solid album - much better than their previous. I thought most of the songs were pretty solid and I like the general vibe of the album. Get rid of the track with the massive Dub breakdown and there would be a sick album.

From all the albums I listened to this year, that was one of the better ones, basically.

the best songs are the ones that dont remind you of anyone in particular yet still give you that utter euphoric contentedness of perfection in your mind, body and soul. keep them close.
