Where is that? I've just checked the Sonisphere Facebook page and last update was in December.

I'd be a little concerned if a major festival organiser was reaching out to people FB for fencing supplies.
Then again, it could have a been light hearted....ha ha ha.
I have a single 6ft x 5ft wooden panel but I'm afraid I can't donate as I need to replace a rotten one in the garden.

Apparently Download tickets are available at 2014 prices until 30th January so hopefully Sonisphere will have made an announcement before that.

They actually had AC/DC, Sabbath and Led Zep booked with Foo Fighters, Tool and Guns N Roses subbing but had to cancel because there wasn't enough fencing available in the Stevenage area. Oh well, gooseberry happens.

Saw that comment on the fb page about the fences. Guy said his mates works for a company who had been in talks with sonisphere about having fencing.

You are right, but it's got to the point where there isn't really anyone around at the time and suitable who is available. So for it to not be a mistake you're probably looking at getting a big band or 2 or 3 on Euro exclusives and I have the opinion that thats just not going to happen. Ergo, mistake.

They must have some bands in talks to make them hold off announcing it. Cause if there was nobody about, they'd have cut their losses by now, whoever they are still in discussions with must be worth the wait. There's not really many if any bands touring rock festivals next year free, so it does suggest that whoever they are in talks with are likely bands yet to announce any summer shows, they don't need to be euro exclusives, I'm sure there are bands out there who have considered summer dates and are yet to make up their mind.

If you remember the cancellation of soni 2013, they announced it wasn't happening due to a lack of bands to make a good enough line up on the 21st of December 2012, so this time around there must be different circumstances meaning they are prepared to wait a bit.

Yeah I'm sure they would have announced it if they had nothing - they got such bad press last time I don't think they'd do it again if it can be helped, plus they've said a while ago that they were trying to sort stuff out. Must be worth waiting for. I was irritated for a while, but now my excitement is increasing daily, I feel like I'm waiting for christmas when I was a kid! I really hope it's not a wanky line up. Rob Zombie is over here for blood stock and I would die of happiness if he played sonisphere!

The fencing post was by some guy who's friend's company was approached to do it. Which looks hopeful! I doubt an announcement will be before download tickets go up in price now, as if they hold off it evens up the competition for them slightly. Who knows though!

Having fencing is a good idea. Builds on the wrestling concept from 2014, gives people something a bit different to watch after the bands have finished.

Yes and of course Bruce Dickinson is an avid fencing fan/participant. That clue therefore confirms that Maiden will definitely be headlining.

And would that mean that we get to watch Bruce and the gang put up some trellises on the Saturday?.... altho actually that could be more interesting than the flight display was

Also, for every fence you get, you can get one less urinal which probably saves money.

So the rumours are really cooking now. Looking back through the last couple of pages alone we have:

- Not Slipknot
- Possibly a fence (if it can be organised in time)

Shaping up to be great fest.

.

Bands from Grune Holle which aren't playing any UK festivals yet - Accept, Airbourne, Anti-Flag, Exodus, Gojira, Hatebreed, Ignite, Incubus, Limp Bizkit, Testament, The Darkness, Triggerfinger, Turbonegro, Unearth.

If I was a betting man, I would say Airbourne and Anti-Flag will end up at Download, Limp Bizkit will be playing Reading and Exodus will end up at BOA, but the others are fair game for Sonisphere.

That's just looking at one festival, there's loads of bands out there who are playing in Europe, but haven't been announced for any UK festivals yet.

One Sonisphere show has Kasabian and Incubus as support for Muse, my guess is that these 2 bands will play Knebworth. Not to mention Iron Maiden were supposed to be announcing tour plans in Jnuary and haven't announced anything yet.

Eesh. I hope Incubus clash with the fence-building, so that I have something more interesting to watch.

Kasabian are going to Reading.

I'm betting Soni might not get REALLY STRONG headliners but more of a good undercard.

We'll have to wait and see.

I said the same thing at first and then I thought here's a band with rave reviews for their live show, will be playing stadiums soon. If the festival wants to reach out in to other markets, which it already is doing, then why not, we've already had Prodigy and Biffy Clyro headline in the past, Download have Muse, Kasabian aren't that far out of the spectrum.
