That would be very good. I would be happy to see Lamb of God. I just probably won't get up on stage with them.

Slipknot just announced Rock Am Ring & Rock Im Park for June next year - so looks like it will be either Soni or DL then - Depends on date of DL I guess

I think RAR is the weekend before Download, but RAR had Maiden and Metallica last year who were at Soni, and Linkin Park and A7X who were at Download, so could go either way. I reckon Slipknot will be at Download though, and do the european sonispheres.

RAR also had a few more announced like Foo Fighters, Rise Against, Frank Turner, Lamb of God etc...

Nova Rock (which is the same weekend as Download) has their first announcement later today too.

I hope that Slipknot do Download as they're fine as a band but I've seen them at least three times, (possibly more, I'm sure Thorn Davis will let you know if I'm wrong), and while I don't dislike them, they don't excite me any more and seeing them four times is just too many.

Same with Slayer, another band that I just happed to have seen a load of times despite not being in love with them.

But, I suspect that Sonipshere might not base their bookings entirely off who I like and who I've seen a lot.

Yes, it's three. 9th October 2004 at the Hammersmith Apollo (supported by Slayer, as it happens, who you were seeing for the second time), 10th July 2011 at Sonisphere, and 14th June 2013 at Download. The first of these was easily the best, and the last was the worst.

Aye I'm not a big fan of Slipknot. Thought they were a bit mediocre at Soni 2011 as well. I'm pretty certain they'll be at Download anyway, and I reckon Foos will do Glastonbury and their own shows.

The Euro fests always seem to announce many of their acts quite early and way before their UK counterparts. Surely that means that some punters will opt for these cheaper Euro fests and the likes of DL and Soni lose customers. I don't really see any benefit in fests dragging their heels with announcements like it's some sort of suspense builder. The way I see it, the longer you take to reveal your acts, the more chance that people will spend their money elsewhere.

Hmm same weekend as Dowload, do you reckon that makes them more or less likely to be there? I'd say more likely depending on what day they play.

I would say they're almost certain for Download ... Corey loves it and it holds significance for them as a band. It's an easy booking for Andy Copping.

Download can have Slipknot. I'd have Die Toten Hosen, In Flames and Rise Against from Nova Rock, though.

I wouldn't say Download holds any more significance than Sonisphere for Slipknot at this point, but yeah, I'd expect it's more likely they'll be there.

Not removing this from my signature until:

Sonisphere UK 2013 is confirmed: [WELP.]

Alter Bridge booked: [NADA.]
Arcane Roots booked: [NEVER.]
Outkast booked: [HAHA, NO.]

Corey has performed at all but two Downloads and Download was the first festival to give them a headline slot. It means more to them than Sonisphere.

Ok so my v good friend won a competition to be one of the crowd on the new AC/DC video shoot. He said the rumour there was (from people who were talking to the staff) was that DC and Slipknot are playing download, then when asked about Soni the reply was "I think Sabbath have signed up for that". Make of it what u will!! Don't shoot the messenger!

Could be true but as previously said I agree that I think we're looking more into 2016 for Sabbath. Not really sure what to think if Sonisphere does happen because I just feel like Download has first pick of everyone at the moment. Still praying for Tool over here next summer  :music-rockon:

Meh possibly. To be fair I'm just praying for the day Muse or Foo Fighters (ROCK BANDS) come out of their comfort zones this year and play at rock festivals like Download or Sonisphere

The ACDC rumour is strong over on the DL forums too, so far the main rumours for DL are ACDC, Slipknot, Pearl Jam and Faith no more subbing one of those or headlining 2nd. Also Korn playing Korn in full.
I think Sabbath are a good rumour for Soni, I'd be surprised if they didn't play if the fest is on next year.
On the other hand though I could see Slipknot playing the Soni tour around Europe and Corey solo or Stone Sour playing DL.
At the moment I think for Soni it's Muse, Sabbath, Tool(?) or unfortunately something very sub par like Linkin Park

If Sonisphere booked Muse they could sell tickets at £400 each and sell out in 15 seconds. Muse fans are mental.

I was thinking Muse or a more reasonable NiN but they aren't doing anything according to Trent, which is perfectly fine by me
