Absolutely.

So far, the two bands I'm looking forwards to the most are Iron Maiden and Devin Towsend Project. Saw him in a tent at Sonisphere and he was amazing. Saw him doing an acoustic set at Download and even though there was some death metal band playing in a tent about 100 metres away he still put on a great show. Love that guy.

Devin is one of those acts I could happily watch several times a year, every year. His set in the PepsiMax tent at Download 2012 was one of the all time best shows I've seen. It was just perfect. I know it's not fashionable to say it, but I preferred it to The Retinal Circus, which had a touch of over-reaching ambition about it.

Continues my trend of seeing him live at least once a year since 2011  Amazing booking and great to hear he's on finally getting the justice of a mainstage slot :D

Absolutely first class booking , he is not only a great musician (and has a ninja band ) he is also a great showman . Saw him about 18 months ago co headlining with Fear Factory , put on an awesome show . the fact that he was booked (along with Mastodon, Gojira ,Deftones and the Prodigy ) was enough to go a yes I'm going again (mind you I have been every other year :-)

Ah, didn't think of any of the foreign soni's. You would assume they would have mentioned that.

Guys, I hate to break it to you like this, but Devin Townsend isn't real. He's an idea... A warm feeling you get in your heart that makes you want to be kind to others.

I got excited when I saw that Debbin had announced some Sonishere warm-up gigs, including one in Leamington. Then I saw that they were on the same weekend as Sonisphere. Couldn't he do these warm-up gigs some other time? I've got the week off after the festival, so any time that following week would have worked for me.

To be honest, that's still a bit close as we'll just have seen him just before. He should really do his warmup gigs in April or something. Or September.

I wonder what happens if a band doesn't do a warm-up. Do they just wander round the stage going "How does this work? I can't remember how any of this works."

edit: I just realised that I've just described Amon Amarth's set from Download last year.

How do you warm up for a show after you've done the show? Shame none of the shows are in Laaandaaan I would've jumped at the chance.

I think we should try and persuade him to do more warm up gigs before and loads of cool down gigs afterwards :D

Second on Apollo? That's only a 30 minute slot isn't it? :(

You just reminded me of 2011, when Volbeat were opening Apollo and came on early so they could play for 45 minutes. That was bloody fantastic; one of my top festival memories.

Of course, that won't work for Devin because of Gojira being in the way.
