As I missed them touring the Hunter hopefully they play a fair amount off it, love that album.

Very hit or miss, I've seen them be pretty dire a couple of times. What would have me coming back though is if they played very little of The Hunter, as I've seen them do pretty much all of it the past couple of times and I don't think it's that good. The 2011 set was near perfect and probably the best I've seen them, more of that less of the pretty pants set from last DL.

I love Mastodon, and I love to see them live, even with dodgy vocals (not as obvious in the moment when you're seeing them live, but watching the Live In Brixton performances shows it up somewhat). Very happy with this booking.

Where do people think they will get placed? Won't this be like the 4th time of coming over here since the Hunter?

Probably the same slot they were in last time they played i'd imagine, Don't think they've gotten any bigger.

Right Mastodonians, I've never really given Mastodon a proper listen. Recommend some tracks?

To go for a track off each album, I'd say:

March Of The Fire Ants (From Remission)
Blood And Thunder (Leviathan)
The Wolf Is Loose (Blood Mountain)
Divinations (Crack The Skye)
Dry Bone Valley (The Hunter)

That'll give a decent career-spanning idea of the band's sound.

Thanks for that i'll hit youtube this afternoon.

I actually saw them live back when they supported Slayer/Slipknot in the Unholy Alliance tour back in....2004? Thought they were pretty good but never really bothered with them afterwards.

Concur with the above listing.

I havent seen them live (they cancelled the one time I woulda got to see them) but while I wouldnt class them as one of my fave bands, I do enjoy what they do.

I will definitely be watching this one, and a spot on the non existent list of fave bands is up for grabs and theirs to lose.

All the albums are great. One of a few bands around that I can say that about.

It's pretty good, but not amazing. That being said Mastodon are a hard band to judge off a single, if it's anything like the Hunter, then the album certainly worked a lot better as a whole.

At first I wasn't so into the new song, but after several days of the chorus being relentlessly stuck in my head over and over, I like it. The main riff is pretty fantastic.

I really like it. Its got all of the key elements of a Mastodon song. It's probably a grower as well.

I have a strict rule never judge any of their albums on one track they're one of those bands that produce interesting tunes/songs that grow on you . I must admit I thought the Hunter was the most immediately accessible album they've ever done and I probably now listen to that the least. Crack the Skye I was initially disappointed with but after seeing them play tracks live and revisiting I began to really warm to the album . Really looking forward to seeing them again I thought they put on one of the best sets of the weekend in 2011

How long a set do you think they'll get? I'm hoping longer than they are in Europe!
