Black Stone Cherry third band down on the Friday? Really? I can't see them going straight into Deep Purple. I'd move NOFX to a different day and then have BSC lead into Shinedown, Anthrax or even Slash or Spinal Tap as outsiders, but that's just me.

I'd make the 2nd stage on the SOAD day more classic rock or metal as all the bands on that day are modern bands and would alienate a fair bit of the audience

Sonisphere are allegedly still targeting the same 18-65 audience they've allegedly always pulled. I don't think alienating the audience would be a worry with a lineup like that, though there would be more bands on there if we're to assume Sonisphere will stick with a similar schedule for each day to the one they had before.

I think thats fairly safe to assume, the schedule set up is what made sonisphere sonisphere

I'm talking number of bands there, not the staggered stages. I'd be amazed if they dropped the staggered stage thing.

the 2 are kinda tied together though, the number of bands they have has always been pretty much the same because theyre balanced to have as many as possible in the time they have alternating

so unless they drop the alternating which would be stupid because its their biggest gimmick or they manage to get a longer license to let them have bands on longer it wont change

Hello Knights of the Soundtable faithful,

I will be taking 2014 off from Soundgarden touring due to prior commitments promoting “Lightning Bolt” with my brothers in Pearl Jam and the desire to have more time at home with my family. I am trying to balance the many twists and turns of my awesome music career. This is temporary. I am still an active member of Soundgarden. Chris, Ben, Kim and I are in the process of finding the perfect substitute for the upcoming Soundgarden dates in 2014.

Thank you all for listening and the Years of Support!

Loudest of Love.
Matt Cameron

So..... Flights and Hotel booked in anticipation of a great festival......
Would love to see Maiden, Slayer, Metallica.... Maiden would be a very safe bet for ticket sales....
Cant help but think ac/dc will be there.... Both celebrating 40years and all....
Mötley Crüe touring for the last time so maybe they'll make an appearance

Final results of that headliner poll from a few days ago plus a pretty nice article on Sonisphere/Knebworth in general.

Foo Fighters ended up edging out Maiden and Sabbath, which is interesting. AC/DC and Metallica far and away the top two.

If Deep Purple played, where would they be on the lineup?

Headlined Wacken last year, but are seemingly subbing at Hellfest this year.

They could headline "the Friday" on Saturn. :P

Yeah I was thinking something similar, with them headlining a Knebworth festival before and being British they might get a push up.

I doubt they're still big enough or still in the public conscience enough for them to headline. Wacken is not a comparable festival to Sonisphere.

Alice Cooper was put on Saturn because they had to spend that whole day and night prepping the Apollo stage for Rammstein.

I'm pretty sure OneZeroUK or Zac busted that myth two years ago. Apparently they only used Saturn just because they wanted to. And didn't Rammstein headline the final day of Download this year?

Edit: http://www.sonisphereforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8696&p=487267#p487259

Actually, the reason we didn't use Apollo on the Friday last year was because we didn't want to. Rammstein had nothing to do with it. Just opening Saturn fitted how we wanted the festival to start up. It might be different this year and there will be many conversations before we decide how best to do it,.

Before Soni 2010, Galbraith went on the MH podcast and he was asked why Alice Cooper wasn't playing Apollo that night, and the reason he gave was Rammstein's stage prep. If he was lying or not, I don't know .. but it's what he said.

Pretty sure Deep Purple's latest album went Gold and got in the top 20, not to mention they are still playing Arena's. If it was them with the Frantic Four underneath, that day would sell incredibly well.

Yeah, Saturn headline or Apollo sub is where I'd see them. Possibly third on Apollo, but unlikely.

Couldn't see them headlining in a "normal" year, never mind one where soni had to pull out all the stops.
