cream - sonisphere need a massive band, SG likes to make a big splash with the festival, cream have never played knebworth and most importantly eric clapton is celebrating 50 years in the music industry this year and what better way would there be to do that than with a cream one off reunion

yep get that :D :D ....... but more likely for a one off knebworth gig two weeks before sonisphere ??
although they would be great for sonisphere

yeah or glastonbury or just turn up at one of the multiple days hes playing at the royal albert hall... but i think it will happen and honestly my main reason for ever believing it would be sonisphere is SG, if anyone could get it to happen it would be him

there would be graffiti stating 'SG is god' if he did

Surely they wouldn't book Kiss as a 2013 headliner?
SURELY?

Of course they frakking wouldn't. I'm as sure of that as I am sure that Sonisphere wouldn't be cancelled last year.

Though tbh, that didn't turn out great.

Guessing in the dark.... AC/DC, Pearl Jam, and its just a two day fest (either that or I can't think of a third headliner)

It's interesting that you're dismissing my suggestion of Kiss, but going with 2 other suggestions by me.

Can Cream still really draw as a headliner? I could see them subbing to Van Halen or Deep Purple on the Friday but not as the marquee name for the year.

Sonisphere UK 2013 is confirmed: [WELP.]

Alter Bridge booked: [NADA.]
Arcane Roots booked: [NEVER.]
Outkast booked: [HAHA, NO.]

I'm gonna go for 31st October: Linkin Park plus a sub, 5th November: Muse plus Alter Bridge and when tickets are announced Avenged Sevenfold.

you're joking right? clapton alone has sold out 7 consecutive nights at the royal albert hall at almost £90 a ticket if cream got back together it would be one of the biggest things to happen in music in years period never mind be big enough to headline a festival

probably not that many, the two tend to have very different audiences... but then its clapton and pretty much everybody with even a passive interest in guitar would want to see clapton.. and the last time he played a music festival here it sold out in minutes so theres that

i also think they will go big on the FMC stuff and maybe a presale for all people that bought tickets for 2012 they need to build bridges with their core attendee's :D
i would announce that with the dates if I were them, get the excitement building before the headliners are announced :D

The only build up I would do is a tweet saying Radio 1 midnight, or something similar and update the main page that day. Go for the shock effect rather than the slow build up, which pisses a lot of people off.

A presale would mean nothing when the fest will likely not even sell out unless they have someone like AC/DC :P

thats it though, if they do have AC/DC or Muse or Greenday it will sell out therefore a presale would more than likely happen ,

Even IF they have one of those, I'd be surprised if it sells out quickly. Download didn't sell out until the end with ACDC (know its a bigger capacity, but still). Could more see a free tshirt/discount on tickets if they do try to make up for the cancellation to people who had tickets.

i'm pretty sure they will have a presale even just for rock royalty packages street team and FMC to allow those who have supported the festival to get tickets without worry

I think Muse would sell out the festival pretty quickly, Green Day or AC/DC not so much.

I think they'd all sell out eventually but I think Muse would definitely be the best catch in terms of shifting tickets.

Reading still took ages to sell out the other year, despite Muse playing. Just because they are a massive band doesn't mean their fan's will want to go to a festival to see them.

well to be fair, Ross just gave a blatant example of that not happening (or not to the degree of selling the fest out single handedly anyway)

Yeah depends what type of music your mainly into I guess as Muse are such a predictable band at Reading.
