If Lionel Richie has been booked then the festival will sell out it would be the smartest move Soni would ever have made! They need to go for a bit of diversity and i feel that would be the best option.

Maybe pushing the budget there kip but that would sell tickets before they even go on sale.

True :( It's more than wishful thinking, but that'd be the greatest line up in festival history off the back of that alone

Will the first announcement be as bad as Reading's? I hope it isn't.

If it has any band on it, it can't be as bad as Reading :P Unless of course SOAD or Blink is on it.

I mean, I hope their announcement is a meaty one, not just "we have to announce something so Tim Minchin will be there and so will The Rasmus. More announcements in April"

I reckon we will have 8-10 bands for the first one.

I honestly think that we're going to get nothing before the new year, and Galbraith's statement about 'before Christmas' will come back to bite him.

We'd be stupid to start complaining about this when the time comes because honestly, it won't be a surprise.

The less bands in the first announcement the bigger they will be.

Eg. Announce AC/DC next week (Thursday 20th December) with festival dates. Say "next announcement coming soon". Tickets onsale Friday 21st December.

That would work.

Even if it was AC/DC I would be shocked if they have all of the headliners if they announce just one before Christmas.

They could but with it being fairly late to start announcing I'd be surprised if they just done AC/DC if they were in a position if they could do more. Not saying it would have to be headliners but I'd expect AC/DC and a handful of bands, just 3-4.

I can see next year being split between people for a start i'm buying a ticket for Reading just for Eminem which is gonna cost me £100 then i'm doing Download,Bloodstock,Hellfest and if Sonisphere do pull out something amazing then that as well i have a lot of friends torn between each.

Yeah same here, going for a weekend at Download & Bloodstock plus a day ticket at Reading for Eminem and then I'll see whatever Sonisphere does.

Yeah, Sonisphere has muscled into an already saturated festival market .. and with Bloodstock booking more 'mainstream' stuff as headliners, it's just going to get more annoying when deciding what to go to. I want to do all the festivals you just named, and luckily I can probably finance that, but many of my usual festival buddies can't or won't, so I'll probably be doing some on my own.

Wouldn't surprise me before long if Bloodstock start increasing the capacity as the lineups are seemingly becoming 'bigger'!

It doesn't sell out though, far as I'm aware it doesn't really get close to selling out, so not much point in upping the capacity. They've been around longer now and definitely are getting some bigger bookings here and there, but I don't think it's made that much of a difference yet for them to start upping the capacity.

i think they will go all out and announce everyone they have booked at the moment,

SG's statement said they were 'hoping' to announce before christmas so wasnt a definite 'we will be' announcing before christmas but i think there would be a negative reaction ,
anyway may well be a moot point if they announce something tomorrow , then everyone one will be complaining about who they have announced !!!
