Rock Royalty - Cars / Mongolia

Postby BlackFish » Thu May 01, 2014 9:21 pm

Hi,

First time camping and all that, assume that in Rock Royalty you have space for your car right next to your camping pitch? Are you able to nip in and out of the site in the car, should the need arise (to nip to the shops for some stamps or summat)

Also how big is the RR camping pitch and are they all individually marked / numbered, or is it a free for all to get the best spot?

Speaking of best spot, what's the terrain like in RR, are we talking rolling plains or Mongolian steppes?

Cheer in advance.

Hey buddy abd welcome to RR. We have a vip thread which is where most of us in RR hang out and where you can ask lots of questions.

RR is a flat grassy field so no mountaineering necessary. The pitches are not marked individually but lines are marked out in areas for people to camp in so that there is enough room to for cars to move between lines of tents. So yes you are able to move your car in and out in the main hours of the day but you may find that if you move the car someone could possibly think its an empty space and pitch a tent in it. We were quite spaced out on the thursday in 2011 but by Saturday there were a lot of random tents squeezed in, not sure if there was a space issue or not.
hope that helps. Feel free to come say hi in the vip community thread.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, will seek out the VIP bit for some more banter, hope nobody bites..........

It'll be my first time camping at a festival for years, for the past two year we've hotel'd at Download. Looking forward to getting to know our 'neighbors', which is something you miss when you travel in and out of the arena everyday.

Thanks again.

heres a link to the FAQ's on the website , covers most of the questions

http://sonisphere.co.uk/rock-royalty-vi ... yalty-faq/

the campsite is right next to the main stage and you can easily nip back to you tent in the 15 minute gap between bands.

it was a bit of a free for all in 2009 and 2010 but 2011 you were sort of told where to pitch by the campsite manager Dan , a really friendly guy by the way

there may be a bit of a queue for the first couple of hours when the campsite opens but thats to be expected when it first opens,

also we have a sneaky feeling the RR site may be a bit bigger than last time as they are talking about moving the guest camp elsewhere, guess we will find out when they release the site map a,d also Zac starts the build thread, so keep an eye out for that.

here's one of the old site maps from 2011
