Money?!

Postby Jessicar1 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 1:45 pm

This is my first time at a festival, and I am clueless as to how much money to take?!
Im camping, shall take beer, probs a bit of food. Not too fussy about random merch but would probs like to bring at least something back if I take loads of money.

stressing myself out here, so any help?

Food is expensive, as are drinks in the arena, so if you intend to buy from food stalls and do a bit of arena drinking you'll need some money :P If you aren't that bothered about merch I'd say you could get by quite comfortably on £100-150 depending on how good you are at budgeting. There are cash machines on site (though they do get busy!) so even if you do run out of cash, you can always get more if necessary.

I tend to base it on 4 meals a day and 12 drinks in the arena. Each meal is normally about £5 (remember you will be walking around and jumping etc and burning a lot of energy!) so £20 for food and £48 for drinks (£4 a drink) call it £70 per day - but then again thats me, some people eat less/more drink less/more - but i tend to budget my money around this.

I don't tend to spend much on the Thursday as i tend to just drink at the campsite and take my own food to cook for that day and maybe by a burger in the evening.

£100 shouldn't be too bad tbh, I know people who have went with less!

Just food generally costs about £4.50-£8, and a pint in the arena is just short of £4, so you'll be able to eat fine and drink a bit :)

Take you own gooseberry, and it costs a lot less. I got by with £50 last year.

what're the best things to take though? surely fridge kept stuff would turn to unedible gooseberry before long and without boiling water its hard.

i think im going to have a breakdown, why cant it just be tommorrow and not in two weeks, i have far too long to panic.

I spent about £250-300 last year, but I bought lots of drinks, plenty of food etc. I think you can work to what you take fairly easily.

This year I'm taking a little more food (breakfast in a can, instant coffee sachets, pasta and sauces, stuff like that) to save a bit of cash. I'll take £200 but I'd like to bring some back.

I intend to save a small fortune by not buying booze in the arena :P I will be taking £50 - 100, food is all I plan on buying, and even then I'm taking some (:

if you like coffee look in the pound shops - i picked up a gooseberry load of the cups that already have the coffee & milk in so you just add water... £2 for 2 x 10 coffee's which is the equivalent of 1 cup on site :D

I tend to bring enough to eat and drink 100% from the stands/bars, but then I pick up some supplies from a Supermarket on the way; Cereal Bars, often things you can eat cold from a tin - fruit etc. Basically, items that can last without refrigeration. I alsu often pick up things like Pot Noodles (hey, it's a fest, I'm allowed) - if any of my friends are bringing their camping equipment to heat water.

These additional things save on cost, without having to lug around an entire cooking set myself.

I usually base my money around whether i'm drinking in the arena or not.
If i am drinking, then I take extra money, of about £200-250, If I aren't drinking then I won't need as much, usually about £150 for food, merch and supplies :D

I'm pretty sure I didn't spend more than £50 - I brought plenty of food, bought almost all my beer at ASDA (plus I had a few free pint vouchers), and didn't get a T Shirt till afterwards :)

£100 is all i'm taking ..i bought drink and a little bit of food for the campsite..since i don't plan on paying stoopid alcohol prices which i can't afford, if i get a chance to get back to the tent during the day i will then crack open a can of something. I will however be eating hotdogs, chips and doughnuts inside the arena. I already have my boardie tee with the soni line up on it and a soni tee i got when i exchanged my soni E-Team voucher so i don't need merch. The only things i will be getting will be for my spawn of satan ;)

I'm taking around £140 mark - £20 quid a day for food - no frakking way i'm paying £4 a pint.

so £80 on food max - then a piece of merch...and some booze at ASDA...boom.
