They both did gigs around the same time in Europe this Summer just gone.

.... I know, I never said they didnt. As far as I'm aware the two tours didn't overlap though.

My point was, the two are not particularly connected. If Soundgarden want to come back this summer they will. If they're not wanting to, they won't. Whether Pearl Jam are here or not won't make much difference (other than when they *can't* tour)

Although they'd likely headline Soni if they played they'd be a poor catch as a headliner really :/

That's true but if it was just them but themselves it would be weak.

Soundgarden by themselves would be crap, Soundgarden with RATM or Pearl Jam would be amazing.

Yeah this is true but I think Pearl Jam will end up at Download now but even Soundgarden and RATM would be immense because RATM have proved they're a strong headliner by themselves anyway.

A rumour is going around that Pearl Jam are headlining Sonisphere, I suspect that damn fake poster is causing this again as surely they are nailed on for Download.

Almost positive its Pearl Jam but if not I think it'll be Green Day (would be shocked if its neither) regardless of tour dates or what happened a few nights ago and Billie going into rehab.

He got drunk and smashed his guitar. That's not ever happened before in any band ever.

Sarcasm much :P but that's what I mean, people are saying they wouldn't announce Green Day as a headliner right now if they were because of this rehab thing but I'm sure they would.

Billie Joe is in rehab purely for damage prevention against the Green Day brand. He doesn't need rehab. He probably isn't even in rehab. The man can get drunk and shout if he wants, who cares if people are offended.

And given that a massive stadium date goes on sale tomorrow, everything is clearly all good. No Green Day fan in their right mind would be put off seeing Green Day just because Billie Joe had a drink and broke some stuff.

What has the world come to when punk rockers need to present a clean and sober image lest they risk damaging their brand?

When they're one of the biggest bands in the world and the people they've pissed off Clear Channel.

I agree its ridiculous though.

I do think it's somewhat a big-ish deal as they've delayed announcing the rest of their tour, and even seetickets has a banner advertising it as an actual tour, rather than one show (though doesn't have dates in the advert). I reckon there was meant to be more, but they're holding off now in case there's any bad publicity or doubt that he might make the shows - even though he obviously will.

I think the capacity would have to be Glastonbury size for those headliners

I keep changing my mind on who I think it will be, after Pearl Jam wasn't announced for Download, I'm wondering if there is more to it such as maybe playing sonisphere, as the same thing happened in 2010 with Rammstein. There's also the big Red Hot Chili Peppers question, could be an easy booking for Sonisphere after their gig this year, WH Times had them as a rumour to begin with too and they are usually in the know with Sonisphere.

Also, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Faith No More, Kiss, Linkin Park, Paramore and Rob Zombie are in my thoughts as well.

That would make me very happy if it happened, especially the friday however I'd swap Linkin Park with Tool as I think there's no chance we'll see Tool over here next year :(

dont think we will get creed and slash as myles and the creed boys will be touring with alter bridge , although you could add in alter bridge on one of the days and we can have all 3 ;)

other than that, that's quite an acceptable weekends entertainment :D
