I went last year and I won't be returning. Not if my life depended on it. I don't care if they've moved from Wil to Basel. The organisation, weather and venue last year were AWFUL. *crycryshe'sachickwhohatesmud* yeah, you would too if you'd been travelling alone for 8 hours in torrential rain and then had to put up your own tent.

Anywho, just a warning if you're thinking of going, prepare for rain. Lots of it.

Its not exactly Sonisphere's fault that there's rain though is it? And who else is gonna put up your tent other than yourself?

More bands will be announced tomorrow as the presale starts

Whitesnake
Judas Priest
Mastodon
Mr. Big
Hammerfall
In Extremo

It's all about equipment! If it's raining like hell you can not buy a £20 tent and expect it to stay dry.
And I'm sure there will be absolutely no mud this year. The main stage will take place in the football stadium of FC Basel, so the grass will be covered. All the other stages will take place in halls.

Great lineup so far. Possibly the best one (except the fact that Metallica is not there).

If Metallica was playing at this gig, I certainly be at it.
2011 - 05 May Iron Maiden (Frankfurt, Germany), 18 June Roger Waters The Wall Live (Duesseldorf, Germany), 2 July - Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax (Gelsenkirchen, Germany), 8-9 July Sonisphere France (Amneville)

They do have a well good line up, though tbh, quite a few of the good bands are ones I saw last year anyway.
All I'd want would be DD, Architects, GWAR and In Extremo. Either seen the others before, or are seeing them this year at Soni anyway.

Probiers' mal mit

Jugendherberge St. Alban Basel (ca. 2 km vom Festivalgelände)
http://www.youthhostel.ch/de/hostels/basel-st-alban

oder

Basel Back Pack (ebenfalls ca. 2 km)
http://www.baselbackpack.ch/

Alternativ gibts natürlich auch den Campingplatz oder auch speziells Tickets, mit denen man in den Unterkünften der St. Jakobshalle übernachten kann (ich nehme an im Massenschlag)

Just the Jupiter Stage to be announced now then?

Not too many clashes, and most bands get a decent set length.

There are going to be a lot of clashes. There are 4 or 5 stages (not sure how many, but it is a lot).

For me, I meant. At least some stages are going on after Maiden finish so it's not just a crowd rushing for the exits.

Now all running orders are announced. And there are a lot of clashes. It feels like there are ONLY clashes. I think this is the worst time table ever! Four stages are at least one stage too much. And the duration is at least a half day too short...

I made a little running order for all stages, just a small overview, if someone interested...

My god that does suck!

I would have to choose between...

Mr. Big/Buckcherry/Gojira
Alter Bridge/Monster Magnet
Limb Bizkit/Hammerfall/Cavelera Conspiracy (even though I don't give a damn about Limp Bizkit)
Slipknot/Mastodon
Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper/Kreator
In Extremo/Gwar

Way to many clashes. I am glad I am not going to the Switzerland festival, it would be too chaotic trying to run around and catch a little of each band.

I really hope Soni France is not like this.
