That a return as well with 1 band checked in for luggage?

No idea about a taxi price, when i did it from Nova Rock to the Airport in Austria last year it was around about 30 - 40 miles i think and that was quite cheap when split between 5 people. Same price as getting public transport to the festival.

I got tickets from the free ticket offer, so it looks like I might be going.

Any consensus yet on the best way to get to and from the festival?

Hostels are quite cheap in Madrid so I might not bother with camping, would end up being more expensive to get tents and stuff out there (or to buy them there) than it would to stay in a nice comfortable hostel with air conditioning. I might get some friends together and fly out for a few extra days as well, make it into a proper holiday.

Flights can be as cheap as £50 each when going on the cheapest days around the festival. Hostels are only around £18 a night for ones that look pretty good. The flights on friday are so expensive you might as well go a couple of days earlier for half the price, spend the savings on a hostel and spend a few nights in a sweet new city.

Flights are much more than £50. That's £50 without the fees, luggage and all that crap. Best deal i've found is £130.

Well I was looking at going a few days early and leaving monday.

Easy jet, departure £29, return £23. You don't need extra luggage, you can fit more than enough in a bag that'll fit in the overhead compartment thing. Otherwise, one bit of hold luggage is £18. £9 booking fee. If you're going alone that'll be a problem, if you have any friends you can book together and split the cost. Take 1 hand luggage and you can share a large suitcase between you for whatever else you need, but I really don't see why you'd need hold luggage unless you're going on a proper holiday or taking your shoe collection or something.

Even if you're going by yourself and have to pay all the fees, it'll only be £79.

This is all departing from Gatwick BTW.

e: Oh yeah, I'd rather go a day early and spend the £40 I'll save on flights on 1 night at a hostel. Assuming you don't mind a 10 person dorm it's only £15. But then again, maybe I'm unique in not wanting to go just for the festival. The way I see it, once you've gone all the way there just to see a festival you might as well spend a few extra days doing something else.

I looked into flights for this but dont seem worth it at all for just 2 days out there. Nova rock had 3 days last year and alot of it was the download line up :P This years shares alot of bands we have had or having at sonisphere uk. Dont seem worth all the hassle for just 2 days.

Also about the luggage, last year it was easy enough just sharing with someone and checking 1 joint bag of luggage in and take the rest as hand luggage.

Does anybody actually have the address for Getafe Open Air? I'm wanting to book a hotel close-ish to it for the Thursday night.

I got return flights for two people, with one item of luggage & all fees, for £95 each return. Looking at different airports tends to work out. I'm flying from Manchester (it'll cost me £8 to get to the airport on the train) and I'm flying back into Liverpool (then £9 via National Express back into Leeds) - sorted.

sorry, that one doesn't. this one does.

No idea why one has FFDP and one doesn't.

Also, FFDP seem awfully low down.

The Saturday is apparently complete, but not the Friday, which has two bands less. Expecting FFDP and one other to get confirmed at some point.

Me and my hubby are going as we got tickets in the tourist offer and have had confirmation that they're still valid. we got return flights from London Luton for both of us for just over £110 but did buy them a month or so ago as soon as we got our Soni tickets, we didn't see a need for hold luggage. We're flying out on Thurs and returning on the Tuesday. Considering staying in a hotel in Madrid near the airport on the first night, then heading to Getafe for the festival, we'll be staying in hotels the whole time but haven't booked anything yet. Would appreciate any advise on travel to Getafe or hotels near by! x

update... hotels seem to be selling out fast, everything in Getafe gone but got a hotel in Parla which is about 5 miles away and can be accessed by tube from Madrid airport.

My ticket didn't say anything about camping.. So are you absolutely sure that there's a camp?!
It's more fun to stay in the festival area all time, than travel far to some hostel just for some hours of sleep :)

For everyone that doesn't know, you can catch a subway from Madrid to Getafe, and then a bus to the festival (costs around 1€ and a few cents) :) that's the best way to get to the festival.

Also, anyone that went last year can inform me of drink and food pricing? Namely, beer :P

Says on the spain website that all tickets include camping whilst space in the campsite lasts.
