Pendulum's slot as s. guests

Postby LoG » Wed Apr 07, 2010 10:13 am

y r people complaining about pendulum getting special guests?
when u work back from that slot theyre technically playing 3rd overall which is the same spot as they played at download last yr so tbh they havent actually gone up a slot, its only the fact that everyone overhyped it on here and other places that ur disappointed tbf

this! i'm happy that pendulum are playing!! kinda gutted that my wishful thinking for SOAD or Sevenfold didn't work but at least it means no soundgarden or faith no more :)

its because where as Pendulum do currently hold a huge following - in their own right the other three bands have all had major influences in the industry - also Pendulum have a chav following
therefore - other 3 > pendulum.

it is all down to taste - but Pendulum are doing a UK tour and playing R/L - so special guest at SOni = major wtf

What's so special about them? They play multiple major UK festivals every year, they're not exactly exclusive. Disappointed they're so high up and on the main stage as well.

best guess is because R/L don't share bands with Soni (or supposed too) thats why - because Pendulum are headlining R/L second stage - seems most feasible reason for them playing Soni as "special guests"

To be fair though its not the equivalent of playing third slot if they are actually sub-headlining. People are disappointed because of the hype surrouding the announcement beforehand eg. People have been throwing around names like Kiss, Judas Priest and Soundgarden due to 'special' part of special guests and instead got a band doing a full tour and playing another festival. People aren't anti-Pendulum generally they were just hoping for a bit bigger/more rare band.

Myself, I am in denial and am pretending both sub-headliners are still to be announced and I like Placebo and Pendulum... They're just no Nine Inch Nails and Heaven & Hell.

whilst I don't think either Sub beats Nine inch Nails of last year, Placebo and Pendulum will certainly have a larger draw than H&H - who went largely unappreciated last year it seemed.

Either way, they are definitely big enough to sub - and can only get bigger with their new album on it's way very soon. Probably one of the most popular bands in the UK, especially as they cross so many different people, whether its a metal head, an indie kid, so pop music fan or whatever...they have massive appeal and will be great. Besides Iron Maiden wanted them to sub :D

Placebo and Pendulum are big enough to be Special Guests.

I would rather have a band like Pendulum over Manobore.

I'll be seeing them at Reading...was kinda hoping this announcement would secure my ticket. But Special Guests of Pendulum isn't exactly that...special.

I'd quite like to see Evile and Municipal Waste...but overall not sure the bands are quite worth the money yet.

NIN were disgustingly terrible last year. Too miserable, slow and boring. Bring on pendulum!

I'm so excited to see Pendulum, they're great fun live I heard!
I don't think they would be suitable as special guests, however, but i suppose it could be much worse, right?

How do you think the fans felt?
It was going fantastic until they finished "Wish".

I was so sad :(

Not personally being a fan, I didnt really care, however, I did expect good things, good things which just did not happen. His last gig should have gone out with a bang, a memorable moment... It didnt. He sucked. Bad times.

What sort of time will Pendulum be on? (I can't think today) Cause they'll be a million times better if it's dark...

When Bullet were on it was quite dark (That's assuming they're headlining the second stage.
