Oooh a Canadian. A drunk Canadian approached me last year after Rammstein and congratulated me for putting on a great festival ...

there were guys waiting from 09:00 in 2010.

to be honest you are going to spend about an hour or two in the queue so i would recommend taking some drinkies for the queue. or making sure you have some friends with you in the queue.

hope that helps. enjoy sonisphere.

I got there at 4 last year and got in at 6. I'd aim to get there for about 1.

Another newbie here too, went to dowload this year (first ever fest!) and now got a ticket to Soni :-)

How does the no delays - dual stage thing work - just thinking of 60,000 people moving quickly from one to the other...

the dual stage approach is a flip-flop system.

it's actually pretty cool.

i can't be definate on the times but apollo has a band on, once they have finished you get 10 minutes to wander over to the saturn stage. they aren't that far apart so there isn't really any rushing so to speak.

the plus side of the flip-flop system is that you don't miss any of the main stage bands (apollo and saturn) but if there is a band on that you don't like, then you have a few other options like bohemia and red bull.

:)

hope that helps. enjoy sonisphere.

Cool - thanks Kazz

Was concerned about there being mad stampede from one to the other :-)

the only thing to watch out for is after the headliners.

it's a bit like a fish trying to swim upwater in a river once the headliners are done cause almost everyone is either heading to bohemia or to the campsite.

it's not really a stampede but you will be heading back to the campsite whether you like it or not.

;)

but it is nothing to worry about. it's not aggressive or anything. just don't expect to go very far in the opposite direction from the crowd.

enjoy sonisphere.

Hey!
Myself and two friends are coming to Soni this year for the first time and can't wait!!
However, I have only ever been to one festival which was V.... it was fun but totally not my cup of tea so my friend owed me one and is coming to soni with me!
Does everyone decide which camp they are going in before they go or something? x

First time at Sonishphere or a Festival for that matter (at 25 I feel pretty ashamed of myself for this! :P)

Really looking forward to it. Is there anywhere good for meeting new people? I'm helping work on some of the stands/rock royalty camping areas but when I get a chance to go and "get involved" it'd be nice to meet some folks and have a drink.

Also the advice about crowds sounds useful - cheers guys :)

the camps are all unofficial.

you can join a camp or not, it is completely up to you. the camps are all really friendly and in my opinion, are the best way to get to know people at soni.

camps found in here: viewforum.php?f=28

on the friday afternoon, there is meant to be a football tournament in the arena. most of the people playing are regular boardies so if you didn't want to join a camp but did want to meet people then this might be an option for you.

football info found here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9504

hope this helps and enjoy soni.

This is my first festival everrrr and I'm a bit nervous  My friend and I are thinking about camping with Camp Loner. I'm trying to find some way of marking my tent too (and so far I'm failing... ¬.¬ )

Marking your tent is easy =). Just buy either some fabric pens or you can go to homebase and get some fabric spray.. With the spray just make a stencil and use it to design stuff on the tent (that's what i 've done anyway!) If not the fabric pens are good for scribbling or writing on the tent =)

Hope this helps!

in 2009, i camped with the mongooses and there were about 4 identical tents in the same area.

i pitched the tent next to the most horrendously outrageously coloured tent. (it was patterned and bright blue in colour) so all i had to do was find that tent and i knew my tent was to the right of it.

:D

loners will also have a flag on a flagpole so that will help you find your tent from a distance.

:)

also else fails, then do like nauplii said and decorate your tent.

enjoy sonisphere.

Good advice Kazz.. Though you could make yourself a cheap flag too if you wish. quite easy but you would need to get a cheap telescopic pole or something to put it up.

I prefer the decorating your tent bit =P tho i have the same octopus on the flag as i do on my tent =D

i decorated my tent in 2009 too but... well... the blue tent was just too easy to spot so i tended to ignore the decorations.

god knows what would have happened if the other guy had moved his tent. probably would have been in someone else's sleeping bag.

Lol, ending up in someone's sleeping bag is not good! My friends almost stumbled into the wrong tent because the one right next to there's was almost identical but a slight different colour... and in the dark a slight change in colour doesn't really become apparent! Mine was fine, it's bright red and we all just kept saying "look for the fish!"

So excited now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
