hey Billy!
yep, so glad this is back up and running. as sad as i am, it's my only thread that the festival will come back again one day. Hubby has given up now and tells me to stop thinking it will happen again. surely i'm not the only one with a little hope.

Welcome back y'all! Now the big burning turd of a question, is will it actually happen next year???? Fed up of getting all my hopes up year after year only to be shot down through sheet apathy when we get ignored and given the mushroom treatment!

Sort out your communication please Soni!

If it happens it is looking likely to be a Maiden swansong for the Book Of Souls tour I would imagine! After that who knows - Linkin Park? Ozzy solo gig?

I would imagine it'll be Maiden finishing off the current tour.

Whoever else it is, I'm assuming they'll be up against a DL line-up of BMTH, GnR and Metallica.

Maiden are apparently doing an arena tour next year, so can't see them being at Sonisphere.

I reckon Metallica will do the Euro legs of the tour as well as the DEAG events. Due to how early on in the year they are, think Metallica will end up at Download.

On some Rockavaria forums, they think the Rockavaria/ Im Revier headliners will be Judas Priest, Volbeat and Metallica.

Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and Radiohead are tipped for Pinkpop. Foo's seem nailed on for Glastonbury, I wonder if Download will finally nab Pearl Jam, with Radiohead playing Glasto or IOW.

Andy Copping has been talking about Def Leppard's Hysteria album and GnR' Appetite albums being 20 years old next year, there's also been hints at Bon Jovi.

Not really sure who Sonisphere could go for?

It is a horrible thought that!!

This is my 2nd year without a festival since the HRH of Nov 2014 - I can't abide Donington and its lack of organisation and generally being treated like a farm animal and shat upon at every turn!

Please please please Sonisphere make 2017 the year you come home!!!

yes please please please team soni, pull it out of the bag for 2017. if anything so i can shove two fingers up my hubbys nose seems as he's been dissing me for even mentioning any soni return to the uk, saying its never coming back. eyeroll.
but Download was absolute hell this year. so many complaints. the weather can be helped but preparing for it would be something. First year that I have actually felt like a sheep.

Been a hell of a long time since I was on here, every year I clinch onto the tiny hope that Soni will come back to us :( it's not been the same. In the past 5 Years I've done Download, Graspop (3 times), Slam Dunk (3 times) and absolutely nothing has managed to fill the void in my heart :( I hope everyone is well!

I would have thought Download will probably offer them massive money not to play Sonisphere.

I think if we're to get any of the major players we will end up with an end of the tour show from Maiden.

So, do we think there is any chance it will go ahead next year or just wishful thinking ?

The daft thing is that now we know Maiden ARE doing an arena tour, he'd have got it right for once if he'd stuck with his original statement!

That knowledge also casts a massive doubt on there being a Sonisphere in 2017 as far as I'm concerned though (if there wasn't already).

If maiden are doing an arena, would they end it with a festival?? And if Metallica are around promoting their new album too, do we think the chances might mean we could have one of them for Soni uk?
Yes, frantically clutching at any straws I can cos I really want a soni uk next year. Missing it too much

Metallica have announced a show in Copenhagen for February, but have said it'll be their only European date until at least Autumn. That means they're not doing the European festival circuit next summer, which surprises me.

yeah I read that email but it does say that as yet that won't be here till the Autumn. I took that to mean they haven't booked anything for next summer yet, not that they wouldn't be at all.

They might do a couple of shows for their album release (they did a lot of random metclub shows in Europe for Death Magnetic) .. but that email told me ABSOLUTELY UNEQUIVOCALLY that they won't be starting any real tour work in Europe until late next year. Let's just squash that right away before metalicbear takes it to mean something it bloody doesn't.

I think Metallica was Sonisphere's hope for next year and now that hope is squashed.
