So we've dodged a few bullets!

Postby Blackwater » Tue Nov 18, 2014 9:44 pm

Download has gone and taken some horrendous bands out of play so we've dodged some sh ite mainly Muse, A Day Top Remember, Marilyn Manson and Five Finger Death Punch! This is great news for Sonisphere.

We just have to hope Soni will be taking place and i actually take back what i said about being 99% sure it's not happening! It seems that Soni might have got in there before Download and booked the good bands :D Lets just hope this is the case :bow-yellow:

If Sabbath play Soni I'm there. Muse are a massive booking for DL but I do think Slipknot, FFDP and Manson are quite uninspired bookings. With Kiss, Crue and Slash to play it'll bring in the classic crowd. I don't mind Slipknot playing but I'm seeing them anyway in Jan and they only played in 2013. Might go since Judas Priest, Muse, Kiss, Slipknot, FNM, Slash, Enter Shikari (clash with Kiss though), BSC (clash with Slipknot) I'd all like to see.

Depends who plays Sonisphere really and the undercard for both since it does take up most of the day when you're there!

People, please be aware that Blackwater is just a troll and just says ridiculous stuff to get a response.

He's still right about some of it. With Black Stone Cherry, Marilyn Manson, Enter Shikari, KISS, ADTR and Motley Crue playing Download, we have dodged a lot of bullets.

He is right, but as far as I can tell he only likes Babymetal and nothing else.

Apologies, I have been very unfair in suggesting he likes very few bands.

New album out next year, haven't played Sonisphere since 2009, could be a big possibility.

Looks like Soni is going ahead next year then :) Bullet For My Valentine wouldn't be as bad as what Download have! Unless They're headlining Soni which wouldn't be good at all.

I wouldn't actually mind Foo Fighters headlining Soni although i reckon they might be booked elsewhere next year.

Are you saying that you think it is going ahead entirely because BFMV are releasing a new album next year? Or do you have more info than that?

So, judging by the huge amount of info already collected on this thread we are:

a) positive it's going ahead and

b) the headliners are BFMV, Foo Fighters and AC/DC, with Gary Numan and Babymetal headlining Saturn.

AC/DC are just working out who will play drums on tour, hence the delay in Soni announcing. It's the only logical explanation.

He's right about some of them, but Muse, Priest and FNM are really good bookings for DL.

Hats off to them for getting Muse actually. They are a band who are big enough and mainstream enough to be able to choose what festival they play at, and normally end up playing frakking Reading or Glastonbury. They are also meant to be ridiculously expensive, and this is the first time they have opted to play a straight up rock festival.

I'm just annoyed they're not at soni/they're on a bill with loads of gooseberry bands. I've always wanted to see them, but they always play a festival I'm not interested in going to, and I won't pay to go to one of their own gigs as I'm not a big enough fan.

Aye, though in previous years they've tended to hit quite a few UK festivals in the same summer, because there's so much demand. They aren't exclusive to Download afaik, so will probably end up at a few - or do their own dates around it as well. Not to detract fromt he booking, as it's a good one mind you, just I doubt they've opted to do Download specifically and just Download.

Can certainly see them at Isle of Wight. I think Giddings was chasing up Arctic Monkeys though, highly doubt IOW will have both.

Muse are the only band DL have that I would pay to see at their own show.

I think DL have got some top names this year, and it's a far better than what they had last year. Was rather hoping Priest and Motley Crue
would do indoor venues over here. If this is all they will do, then I'll be a bit cheesed off with that.

The big question still remains though - which festival will Babymetal turn up at.
