I think people are just keen to know whether they can start looking forward to more of the same next year. Personally, I spend about 9-10 months of the year getting really really excited about festivals and want that to start in earnest as soon as possible. It's one way in which I feel like I get my money's worth.
Got to agree with that , 2014 was imo probably the best so far (2010 being a close second) but for me with the exception of the Prodigy (who I'd never seen, and thoroughly enjoyed) I wasnt bothered about the other headliners IM dont do anything for me (still not sure why) and Metallica are so far up there own a**es that they just annoy me, but the others on the main stages were excellent Mastodon/Gojira/DTP/Hundred reasons/Drop kicks/Reel Big Fish/Band of Skulls/Carcass/Slayer and that sort of line up along with the fact that I think its the best organised festival there is was enough to make me go. Not sure how many others feel the same but thats my thoughts. For me a good sub lineup and one decent headliner is enough . Unfortunately from what Rammsteins guitarist said in interview recently it looks unlikely that they'll play any shows in 2015 ...
