To be fair they are usually pretty up front and honest. They'd either answer honestly or just ignore the question if they didn't think it was happening but didn't want to announce that yet. with an announcement having to happen this side of the new year, so in the next 8 or so weeks you'd have to think they'd have a pretty solid idea if it's happening or not, so working on it is a good sign. Like last year I know they won't announce dates or say it's on till it's all 100% and the bands are completely locked in, so they must have some bands signed up or almost at the stage of putting their names on the dotted line I'd hazard a guess at

Please don't be second weekend in July as that's quarter end and it's like my busiest time at work.

I think that all other people who are thinking about going will be happy for it to be 16th - 19th July to make my life a little bit easier.

Hoping it's August to be honest, July is full of weddings and family affairs, making it highly likely I wouldn't be able to go.

New festival called "Ramblin' Man" in July based in Kent, seems to be the spiritual successor to High Voltage fest. Good news is looks like the UK fest market looks healthy enough start a new fest, bad news is more competition for soni and less available bands.

Good news is, they've so far taken four gargantuan piles of sh*t off the table.

The way I see it, if Ramblin' Man takes the older rock market and Download takes the younger, there's not much left for Soni.

Well, Sonisphere has traditionally been happy to go after the exact same market as Download, which is why their line ups are pretty much interchangeable. So I don't think this High Voltage-redux thing will make any difference.

Aw Scorpions are pretty good and would have been an okayish second stage headliner?

I'm pretty certain they've turned down Download numerous times as it's headline or nothing for them, also certain Andy stated he's offered them second stage headliner before and they said nope. Something about them thinking they are bigger than they are, and wanting a full stage show and everything else so it's headline or nothing.

Bit foolish on their part. They were a good support to judas priest way back in 2005(?). Although the fact JP wasnt supporting them should have told them (or their managment) their place.

I'm more than ok with first weekend in July. Easier to get holiday then don't have to fight with all the parents wanting time off end of July - start of September.

Beginning of July is great, maybe towards the end would be a bit better as it's right in the middle of summer

Scorps not playing Download was they wanted to have their full stage show, meaning 2nd stage was no go, and they wanted to play in the dark, again meaning headliner was only option (not how it is in Europe, where you often have bands after headliner, and bands on later anyway). They know they haven't played the UK in years, and didn't want to cheat fans who had waited that long with half a show. So it's not really a case of ego.

I expect they'll be a bit of crossover with Soni, but not much. The fact it is in school holidays might make it a more viable option for some though. Still annoyed Soni moved away from the mid-summer weekend.

Think soni have a grace period atm, dl haven't exactly said or done anything affirming either, although it will be happening next year. Its once dl have announced and soni remain quiet is the time to worry

Aye, Download had actually announced by this time last year, soni then announced about 3 weeks later it was happening and 4 weeks from today for the first announcement.

I think Download will announce either next week, or the week after, so that leaves sonisphere the end of November/early December to announce as it normally does.

Download will announce once Slipknot's tour has sold enough tickets and Sonisphere might announce something, but it's not likely.

Nothing to substantiate this? Didn't think so.

Remember that time you were absolutely sure that RATM were headlining Download last year? Did you ever apologise to us for being wrong, or even acknowledge you were wrong? You didn't give a source then either. You don't actually know anything.

Why do you post here?

Download will announce when its got its other headliners nailed down, I would say its pretty clear that Slipknot are playing DL and I honestly can't see it affecting the sales of their arena tour anyway as Slipknot and Korn will pull the numbers regardless.

More likely is that DL will announce when AC returns to the country after seeing whoever he is seeing, and I think its far more likely to be Manson, Nickleback, Slipknot as headliners than the other suggestions. No information to say otherwise, but I can't see AC/DC or Gn'R appearing as thats just a ridiculous pipe dream.

I know Manchester has either sold out, or just has the silly packages left. From what I gather it pretty much sold out on pre-sale before it even hit general release.

Muse just updated Facebook - while we may not necessarily get them, I think the other headliner acts and undercard are in for a good chance for either Sonisphere or Download:
