I would imagine not for a good few months. I assume that they desparately want to go ahead and I desparately want them to go ahead, but guess it depends on band bookings/ticket sales.

Hello IronBoosh! I know - and it all went so fast too! I didn't get to do half the stuff I wanted or see everyone I wanted to see. It was amazing all the same and this sun is making me miss it so badly.

So seriously, any word if there will be a 2015? Surely by now the organisers can say if its looking likely or not...?

this time last year we had no word on soni 2014 - they always stuck to maybe untill they had the bands pretty much ready to announce.

I really can't see it going ahead, they'd really struggle without Metallica or Maiden, who obviously won't play again next year, so I think they'll need a REALLY strong headliner to go ahead, which I just can't see happening

I can understand this although I reckon if they can nab FNM after their album and US tour and Sabbath it'll sell enough to go ahead

Exactly, it's only just September and last time I checked no UK festivals have made any announcements yet, in fact only a small handful of European festivals have announced. I think people are panicking way too early.

I doubt we will hear anything until October at the earliest anyway.

So if they don't book any of those 2 bands (which they're not going to) it won't happen again.

All it takes is one big band to ensure it goes ahead. Sonisphere's pool is massive to choose from.

I don't think it's panic so much as impatience. Soni 2014 was mighty. An absolute powerhouse of a weekend. I think people are just keen to know whether they can start looking forward to more of the same next year. Personally, I spend about 9-10 months of the year getting really really excited about festivals and want that to start in earnest as soon as possible. It's one way in which I feel like I get my money's worth.

Aye it'd be nice to hear something, but realistically we're probably looking at November/December before we hear anything.

In terms of it not being able to go ahead without Maiden or Metallica, I don't really think that's the case, there's plenty of bands out there who could make the festival a success or ensure it'd go ahead, as long as they're pulling in around 35-40k+ and I don't think Maiden or Metallica are the only bands capable of selling to those numbers. Some solid headliners (SOAD, RATM, TOOL, Sabbath, Foos, Green Day, Blink-182, FNM, Kiss, Slipknot - if they aren't at Download, Rammstein, Linkin Park, AC/DC, Muse, RHCP etc..) A combination of any of those 3 would be fine, particularly even just with a decent undercard. It's unlikely Maiden or Metallica will be anywhere next year and if Motley Crue and Slipknot are what Download are offering I don't think in a competition sense that leaves sonisphere in a position where it's going to be difficult for them to put up something to pull people in.

Best thing about Sonisphere is it's had some eclectic bands play in the past so a headliners like Muse, Green Day or RHCP wouldn't be that out of place

What about Ozzy as a headliner, isn't he doing something soon? :text-givemebeer:

Yeah memoirs of a madman and something called Hell Gate next October. Was there anything about tours? I know Sabbath still had some places they wanted to tick off before they finish.

I was thinking Black Sabbath for 2015 earlier. No basis for thinking that, just that they're a big enough band to still sell plenty of tickets despite headlining Download in 2012 and BST in 2013. I dunno, I'm not a huge fan of them, just bouncing ideas til some sort of announcement is made.

Sabbath would be a good shout if they are finishing off the tour.

I could see Sabbath doing the Soni tour, but I don't think they've got any plans for next year, last time I checked it was Ozzy who was going to do a solo tour, wouldn't surprise me if he releases his new greatest hits and then does US only.
