Food Glorious Food

Postby mt96djc » Wed May 14, 2014 6:02 pm

Forget the line-up arguments, the discussions on album sets and whether Friday is a full day or not...surely this is something we can all agree on...

The food stalls look frakking lush: http://sonisphere.co.uk/news/9-artizan-eateries-at-sonisphere-this-year/

I'm going to have an Eddie, an Ostrich burger and loads of stuff from the French stall. Was going to bring some food with me but dont think I'll bother now. :D :D :D :D :music-headbanger: :music-rockon: :music-deathmetal: :D

A boy gotta eat.

Hoping for a dedicated houmuss stand. Near the noodle vendor. By the craft beer stall. In close proximity to the cheese van. I will bring my own crackers tho

This is good news. When I last did Soni, in 2010, the food was hands-down the worst festival food I'd experienced in many years.

I was thinking that.

I assume it will be a similar price to what the food normally is. Other festivals have similar food stalls, even though not all of them might be quite as good.

If the prices are similar, though, it might be worth going for these stalls as you'd get better value for money, because the quality would be that much better.

My wife has a dreadful taste in music and can't stand the thought of going to a festival so I always go with mates. The only thing she is jealous about in relation to this entire festival is that cheese van.

Can't wait to get some of that stuff in my belly.

Yeah, Deli Kate also does Beermageddon and Download as well. (Maybe a few others too) There's nothing stopping her coming down to Sonisphere :O

Also, in relation to the prices, Deli Kate provides an excellent home cooked style meal with good portion sizes for a really reasonable price. It might not be as artisan as these places are trying to be, but there's no reason they can't be just as reasonable priced. (Even though you know they won't be :S)

Di you say craft beer stall?! Did you make that up?! I would be very impressed if there was such a stall!

BTW this food looks frakking great. I usually bring food with me but will definitely be sampling the cheese van, pizza van and a few others.
Can't imagine prices will be too high compared to the usual burger n chips, noodles etc.
I wonder if the £6 curly fries 'offer' comes back again this year? Even in the year 2050 that will still be taking the piss.

Ahh I see...but it is surely only a matter of time before quality craft beer gets into festivals (are you listeing Soni?!).
At least we have the Trooper and maybe Hobgoblin.

The food is better than Download's selection despite getting food poisoning at Soni 2010 which says a lot!

They all look divine!

I already know I'll be visiting that little yellow van with the flowers!
I can't resist a good 'ol toastie! And their prices look very reasonable.

I'm probably going to eat at the show twice a day. The concessions look good, but I'll avoid that seafood like the plague. Barf!

The idea sounds good, but keep in mind this food is still festival food and is still going to be the smallest portions made with the cheapest ingredients at the highest possible profit margins. Grated cheese salad? That's probably £8. Authentic Italian pizza? (glorified cheese on toast with some spinach to make it posh), that'll probably be £15.

With that said though, the Ostrich burgers are delicious (for £6.50), and I'll probably go on a drunken munchies raid of all of them and spend all my money on the first day. Good job.

I'm getting a little list together of sample prices although it won't be as straight forward as in previous years due to the fancy stuff coming. We'll put it up around two weeks out from the event.

Well if someone offers me 'finest sausages, mash n peas' or whatever and they give me 2 Iceland budget sausages they'll be getting them straight back.
If vendors advertise 'gourmet' food (with gourmet prices), they had better serve it up as described.

I take condoms with me every time I go to a food van at a festival ... because when they completely and utterly fuck me, it's important to be safe.

Obviously food being prepared in the middle of a field won't be michelin star quality, nor will people on benefits be able to afford it, but they really do make you feel like you've been fucked. And no Zac, that's not a personal attack on you. It's the same at Reading, Leeds, Bloodstock, Download and even Novarock. It's the same everywhere.
