He's ideal for that, die hard metal fans will probably be less fussed about saturn headliners if they want a good spot for them and those who aren't as much into Metallica/Maiden can still have someone big and massively different to watch to end their night on the outdoor stages.
I suppose most of that might be true, but then in 2010 Placebo subbed to Rammstein while Motley Crue headlined Saturn.
I'd say that's a similar situation, Turner on Apollo, Deftones/whoever on Saturn, then Iron Maiden on Apollo. Assuming it's Deftones for the sake of simplicity, they're obviously a lot closer to Maiden than Turner is, but Crue are closer to Rammstein than Placebo are.
Plus, he's a massive Maiden fan. They were his specialist subject on Celebrity Mastermind http://www.nme.com/news/frank-turner/74701
. I think I got more points than he did though
I'm expecting him to play under them (and no doubt wear a Maiden shirt
Pretty big coup tbh, I'd not be surprised if he ends up headlining festivals himself soon (I don't get the appeal, but it's clearly there). He might not be perfect for the main Soni fanbase, but he's gonna get the festival a lot of attention from the NME/radio 1 crowd. Really good idea to say to him "you like Maiden right? would you like to play under them?"
