I figure we're not going to hear about next year either, so might as well plan for a possible 10 year anniversary.
So, what do you think the chances of us all being in a field at Knebworth in two years time are?
Other than Iron Maiden and/or Metallica headlining (as is tradition), who else ?

Sonisphere is the most magical time of the year! There will be beer, excellent sounds, and happiness all round

I wish they would just say if it was dead in the water and they weren't going to attempt anymore.

Re: Sonisphere 2019
I'd say the chances of us being at Knebworth in 2 years time are slimmer than the chances of us being in the same field next year.
At the risk of sounding like Mr Bear, if BMTH really did get bumped for Aerosmith on the basis it was a farewell tour, that's 1 DL headliner already in the bag for 2018. My guess is Metallica will be there as well (as LN kept their dates to this side of Xmas so they could claim a DL exclusive in 2018).
That's one slot left at DL with Slipknot, Linkin Park, Avenged, Judas Priest, Def Leppard all likely to be touring. That's in addition to Maiden, who have been known to finish a touring cycle which included UK dates at Soni the following year, and BSC who will be next to step up to headliner.
I could quite easily see:
DL- Metallica, LP, BMTH
Soni - Maiden, Slipknot, Leppard (or BSC)
Sure others will be in the mix too - Ozzy's already looking at releasing solo stuff next year isn't he?

Re: Sonisphere 2019
Festivals seem to be struggling across the board this year, wouldn't surprise me if a few more don't happen next year.
With that being said, a few struggling events seem to be clinging on for life; apparently they're already working on Stone Free and Ramblin Man 2018.
I think Sonisphere as a brand is dead and buried now, only Rock in Vienna remains from DEAG's festivals as well and that is only after a complete change in target audience.
As I said previously, I think they should have done this -
New Location - Somewhere more central
Sonisphere presents Tag - but new generic name like xxxx Rock
Down-scaled lineup - except when they can get bigger bands, change price to reflect this
Dates - Make sure they're in the 6 weeks holiday ie End of July/Start of August.
Sonisphere tour - 5-6 different bands which they can tour around the World promoting the brand.
This year we could have had -
Marilyn Manson
Apocalyptica - plays Metallica by 4 cellos
The Offspring
Primus
Scorpions
Thunder

Re: Sonisphere 2019
Apparently AEG are looking to launch a new festival at Knebworth next year; to be headlined by The Rolling Stones. So I guess that kills off all hope of Sonisphere returning.
I still think Kili will make Stone Free an Outdoor event with camping at some point, probably with Maiden as their first mega headliner.
