thanks for an epic weekend guys. was an absolute blast !!!

right now for the official festival bit ,
there will no doubt be a feedback thread where people can write the bits they liked and the bits they didn't , please contribute it will be the best way of getting any future festival changed and any issues ironed out , just for your info they are fully aware of the issues at the box office and the queues, it happens every year, will be trying to figure out a way of making it easier for everyone to get in if we have a festival next year . if there are specific things about rock royalty that you think could be changed then post it in here as well, we have had some of our suggestions implemented in the past.

any way enough of that :)

Only thing I think Rock Royalty should include would be a free lanyard / attendee - nice touch I think!

Other than that I thought it was best Festival experience we have ever had! Shame about the "animals" who fouled the showers & the issues with pressure and getting the showers to work on Saturday.

Yeah I saw that from a distance and swiftly chose another shower on sat morning.

I agree that the lanyard would be a nice touch and am happy with the tshirt. The goodie bag was awesome in previous years but this year shows it's not absolutely necessary.
I also think the stewards on the gate to RR should be as thorough checking wristbands to get in to camp/barns as the ones on the gate trying to get into the arena from main camp. Hardly had our wristbands checked at all. We've paid a lot of money and don't like the idea that just anyone can get in.
Anyway, there Is a rant thread and a praise thread. I've put my moans and praises in there. As billy said, it does get read and will help towards planning the festival in the future.

It's so nice to put names to faces now and can start looking forward to next year already!

I went in RR for the location; minimising the distance between tent and car, tent and toilet, and tent and arena. It meant I had much more time and energy for the festival.

The other bits and pieces were just add-ons that were of little actual value but added some charm - access to the barns was a nice idea but I only had time to get there once (and it seemed to be full of skinny women and unhappy men not enjoying the music), and the t-shirt isn't something I'd really wear as it looks like what it was - a promotional freebie and not a gift. No skin off my nose though, just had no impact at all on my weekend.

I loved my first time in RR and both kids got their tee's signed (thanks to Amanda for taking them to get signed by The Defiled xxx) The distance was far better for me than the disabled section has been in the past, the atmosphere was great as were the amazing people who I've spoken to on here for the past 3 years but only managed to meet this year.

On arrival the stewards knew exactly where to take me to camp up ( Thanks Billy for the viper pic which told them who we belonged to )

A nice extra touch would be the chance to buy guest area passes or a prize draw to get into the artists area for a day :D

Walking round the barn Aaron managed to bump into the Dragonforce guitarist.

Just joined the FB group page better late than never thanks Manda.
We thought RR was great liked the barns as were able to sit at a table and eat (old, as you know). The pig that fouled the shower was disgraceful but you can't control idiocy and I felt really sorry for the crew that had to clean it up.
Things we didn't like were the whiff of the loo chemicals but hey ho could be a lot worse. Also surprised that the brekky van was closed Monday am and the loos that weren't closed had no water to the sink and no loo roll - felt like right we've had your money it's time to go now
Loved the music the vibe and the camp viper peeps. Can't wait for next years lineup to be announced

My only complaint would have to do with the shuttle service, for obvious reasons. Lol
John the weed, you are the man!

I think everyone who went for a shower on Saturday must have spotted *that* cubicle! Don't know what you think but I thought that the showers and toilets on the other side were cleaner? Checking in was a doddle, we just said we were with Camp Viper and they escorted us without question (we arrived late mind you). The barns were mostly visited for the loos when we were in the arena. Had food there Sunday evening but were very disappointed with the quality :( Apart from that, we had a brilliant time and would certainly go again. Thank you John (billytheweed) and Amanda for making it such an enjoyable weekend! :)) One more thing, I wish the merch stands stocked t-shirts from the lesser bands like they do at Download (at least they did when we were there in 2010).

Youre welcome em :) my fave band so always good to get them more fans ;)

I thought that too Isi! Tended to head straight for the opposite side for a shower.

But you are very welcome , glad you had a brill time. The smaller bands had their own stands on the merch market I think around the time of their sets.

Nina that's not good. You should've been given a raffle ticket to exchange at the info tent in RR for your free tshirt :(

Overall I had a great weekend and the music and the arena layout was fantastic. However having paid the best part of £400 for a RR ticket I don't feel I got value for money. I expect a bit more than being ablee to park next to my tent and having decent showers and toilets for the extra I paid.

The moany bits first -

Lack ofa goodie bag. To be only given a seriously crappy t-shirt that looked like it had been thrown together at the last second (if you disagree compare the RR t-shirt to those available from the Merch stores which were excellent) was pretty insulting. The minimum we should have had was lanyard and decent t-shirt. There was a consensus from the people camping near us that we felt ripped off and this was fed back to the staff in the info tent who unfortunately got it in the neck from a large number of disgruntled people.

2. The 2hr wait to get in at 3pm on Thurs was a shambles - completley disorganised

3. The situation on Thurs where security prevented us from taking drinks from the VIP bar into the arena and vice versa really did piss a lot of people off, To be fair this issue was recrified the next day but should not have happened in the first place

4. The breakfast bar was rubbish - if we are in RR why were served up food which was far below the standard available in the main arena?

5. The lack of visible security in campsite at night and the lack of wristband checking during the day at the main entrance into RR from the main arena. I have no idea if there were any reported thefts etc but I cannot recall seeing any security on the campsite at night or in the day ( I did see large number of staff cleaning up rubbish which was nice). The complete lack of wristband checking between the main arena and RR was laughabale although it had improved by Sunday.

Now the good bits

1. The toilets and showers were excellent and were mostly well maintained

2. The short walk from the campsite to the arena is fantastic

3. The staff in the info tent were very helpful and dealt with our gripes as best as they could

4. The VIP bar area was great but could have done without the pushy secuirty staff turfing us out at 2am like chavs from a nightclub!
