Is the arena divided in any way?

Postby starchild_ro » Sun Mar 25, 2012 9:56 am

Hi everyone!
This is my first time in Sonisphere and I'd like to know if the arena is divided, in the sense that maybe you arrive really early and want to be at the front as much as possible... do you get a wristband? are there separated areas every X meters with a certain capacity of people? Or is it just plain field and you can come and go and just push your way in and out...

Thanks!

The arena opens up in the morning - so if you're camping you can usually get in around about 11am, of course on the Friday, bands don't start till about 3pm although the arena will still be open from the morning.

The bigger of the 2 mainstages, Apollo (the one the headliners - KIss/Queen/FNM play on) uses a T Barrier system which looks like this:

Image
Note: That image isn't from Sonisphere - but it's the same barrier system.

So basically you have the Stage with the barrier, then 2 sections (left and right) closest to the stage then a bit back from there you have another barrier which is basically there to stop crowd surges. There's no golden circle or anything like that, so you can stand as close to the front of the stage as you want - assuming there's space. So if you went into the arena int he afternoon and wanted to stand right at the front barrier all day to get a spot at the front, you can!

Hope that answered your questions, if you want to know anything else, ask away :)

Sorry to resurrect an old(ish) topic but does that mean you can walk into the section of the crowd nearest the main stage at anytime of day? They don't limit numbers or do a wristband thing?

I appreciate you would have to get there earlier rather than later to try and work your way near to the barrier, but there's nothing stopping you going into that area whenever you like?

Sorry to resurrect on old(ish) thread.

Does that mean then that you can get I to the two sections of the crowd nearest the main stage at anytime of the day, there's no maximum number or wristband type thingy going on?

I appreciate it's better to get there earlier rather than later if you want to wriggle to somewhere near the front, but there 's nothing stopping anyone entering the front crowd sections?

Thanks.
