Supermarket in Camp

Postby spirit666 » Wed May 04, 2011 12:15 pm

Hello all,

New here and first time going to soni (canny wait). Just wanted to know if there was a shop at the campsites for the usual needs ie milk drinks sweets etc etc. Just thinking of the food we are taking with us and if there is stuff we can get on site or nearby then less to carry.

Hope to see you all there :)

There was a shop last year, located next to the entrance from the campsite into the arena. Sold your everyday staples, such as soft drinks, bread, milk etc. Would imagine there will be one around this year. There's been one in every festival I've attended.

There's a Tesco you can go to aswell. All you have to do is get on the shuttlebus which is free, for 5 minutes down the road. Then you can go to the local Tesco for all your supplies.
That's what we did last year, we could get everything we wanted and at a really good price, including camping stuff.

the one on the campsite is extortionate but convenient.

the tescos it straightforward to get to but can be a bit of a trek.

choice is yours

Where do you get the shuttle bus from?

Last year it cost us £15-20 in taxis just to go to Tesco's

Yep, and it's all really simple to spot out and get to. Everyone else will be going to and from Tesco on the shuttlebus, so just follow the horde of people

That will be nice for the people of Tesco. A bunch of sweaty, unwashed people marching into their store :music-rockon:

It's brilliant  everyone is quite well organised and orderly though, noone really causes trouble on the shuttlebuses or at the shops. Save the mental antics for the arena

You can bring vodka into the campsite, just bring it in a plastic bottle, we usually buy cheap bottle of water, empty them and fill them up with the vodka. There's no rule against bringing spirits into the campsite just get rid of the glass bottle beforehand

Tesco was fun Saturday morning the men's loo's were broken - I wonder why

Spotted 2 little old ladies looking very frightened while doing their shopping along with all the sweaty unwashed hoards.

Tesco is easy to get to, doesn't take long, shuttle buses no problem.

Im assuming Tesco is always prepared and gets serious stocks of booze in beforehand lol. I remember when I was in Manchester for the UEFA Cup Final in '08 and all the city centre shops were running out of booze cos 200,000 alky Rangers fans were in town (no I wasnt one of the rioters).

you cant use it just for shopping trips though. it's for bringing campers to the site thurs/fri, and leaving on monday. they wont be taking people both ways

you'll need to take a taxi, but they're not too expensive, especially if you're sharing

Yes you can, you can use it just for shopping, i used it loads last year, got the free bus to stevenage but got a taxi back because the queue for the bus was massive. You can definately use it just to go shopping
