Postby King_Walnut » Fri Sep 18, 2009 3:31 am

I do Judo, 1st kyu (Brown belt) with 50 points towards 1st Dan (Black belt)

What martial art(s) do you do? And what level are you?

I got the first belt after white in Judo like 8 years ago and gave up :P
My brother does a lot though - black belt in Kickboxing and is now onto Krav Maga - I can still beat him up though :P

If you you take it up full time you'll have wrists the size of your biceps within a year, and the jokes about masturbation will be flowing at you from all directions.

Ju Jitsu - Black belt. Have been doing it since 1996. Last few years has been on and off due to work commitments. Hoping to sort that out and get back in to some kind of martial arts.

I only do it for fitness and more self confidence, don't compete or anything, as a lot of the time, it's full of dick heads who think they're 'ard!

did Tae Kwon Do for a while, got to 1 belt from Black, then stopped. Its started to become more about the theory than Self Defense.

Started out in Krav maga just before xmas but I done my back in so haven't been in 8 weeks, will hopefully get back into it soon as I really enjoyed it and the training is rather intense!

I did Judo for a couple of years and was a Yellow belt before I left.. Sorta came back to it last week. I'm not really able to fully to commit to it right now.

This thread makes me sad, I used to do Hapkido at uni (in the north-east) I got to red belt and came first in the Individual Stick Pattern at the first UK championship back in 2005. Then I moved back south after uni and miss it sooooo much.

I took up wing chun for a couple of years, I really love that martial art. To me it is unbeatable, the defense system it has is truly complete, however it's damn expensive. Had to stop when I began training to be a teacher and as a teacher supporting my wife through uni I have neither the funds or time spare to find another another martial art that I'll be committed too.

I enjoyed doing hapkido more (it involved lots of high flying tae kwon do kicks etc.) than Wing chun, but damn Wing Chun is much more useful for self defense.

Oh how I miss martial arts - just a great way to get away from any strees and think about nothing but the martial art.
Yo! Stop that grinning and drop your linning!

I never really learned any martial arts per say. In the military I learned military combatives which takes elements from several different martial arts including brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo, muay tai, and several other techniques. Of course we did not earn belts and I would honestly say that my training was minimal.

Did kick boxing for 2 years - got to blue belt, but had to have operation and haven't been back in 12 months.
Aikido before that, but to be honest I just got board with that one though now i wish i'd kept it up.
Hoping to start BJJ and Muay Thai soon - and yes I am looking at the MMA thing.
