Not an Xbox fella myself, will be getting a PS4 at some point but since they will share a catalogue its not much difference.

In order of excitement I am looking forward to

1) Witcher 3 (may get it on pc tho)
2) Final Fantasy XV
3) Kingdom Hearts 3
4) Metal Gear Solid V
5) Thief

Overall I would say that this latest generation has been a bit of a let down for myself so far. Without falling into the trap of silly fanboy arguements, I would say that both machines were released way to early. They seem to have been pushed to get them out for the christmas period but the games catalogue is only going to be ready by summer 2014.

Obviously it all comes down to taste and a friend of mine did get a next gen console as the game he wanted were the release ones, however I think both companies dropped a bollock as no matter how much you love those games I couldn't see em lasting 6-8 months whilst the rest of the catalogue catches up.

I'll end up with both consoles, as both always have some great exclusives. Only getting the Xbox first as Forza 5 and DR3 are my pick of the initial exclusives. Although the new kill zone does look good. The last gen launches were like this. The first games are typically slightly better looking versions of the previous gen.

You're spot on about both consoles being released too soon. The Xbox especially, they seem to have spent the last 6 months or so reversing some of the awful things they announced. But I think thats the game industry now, most games seem to be released half finished then if you're lucky patched. The consumer is basically the beta tester these days.

I cant decide what to make of watchdogs, It looks like it could be interesting and the setting certainly appeals. However every time I see or hear something new about it, it starts to looks more and more like modern day AC or Hackers Creed.

The only reason that puts me off is that I really enjoyed the AC series up till number 3 when they massively fucked it up imo. So I am dreading that they will do the same with Watchdogs.

AC2 if I recall correctly, and yeah it was annoying, but fortunately didn't ruin the feel of the game for me to much. The things that made it more annoying was you unlocked counter as the 1st special combat move, and all the ones following it were stuff that you didn't need since Counter>All Else.

Game died AC2 then. It just becomes way way too easy. Yet it's almost at times like you can't not use it. Am tempted to get 4 tho. I dunno. Will start with FIFA and Forza.

Fifa 14 is very good i'm not usually one for football games but it plays brilliantly.

Just seen a couple of other games due for release in June Tom Clancy's The Division and Murdered: Soul Suspect which both look pretty amazing :D

I don't mind copy of a.

Forza 5 is starting to piss me off a bit, Turn 10 fucked the game economy to push people towards their crazy expensive micro transactions (£80 for one car isn't "micro" at all) Done near 80 races have 850k credits and 11 cars, Even if I was good enough to ramp up the difficulty and turn off all the assists, there is no way I can buy all the cars needed to compete in all the events with out going over previously done races a crazy number of times.

The pay out staying the same, the fixed 12k reward for winning a series fixed 35k for leveling up and the removal of reward cars are killer, it seems fine at first but when the price of cars goes from 50k to 400k + you're fucked. And this is after Turn 10 increased payouts, and cut prices. Such a shame as the gameplay is ace and the graphics are amazing.

I'm really looking forward to Fable legends, and Forza Horizon 2. Titan Fall looks ace as well.

Unfortunately micro transactions have completely ruined the gaming world imo as for some reason dev's are to frakking stupid / greedy to realise what they should be used for. My biggest gripe about modern games is that features that used to be classed as content, such as cars, are now either micro transactions or day 1 dlc which is just another way of adding £10 to the price tag imo. If you take the classic GT games as an example you could spend hours playing those as all the content was unlocked ingame and I recall me and 3 friends sat of GT3 for hours to achieve full gold and all cars, now you would have to buy half of it.

A game that has got micro transactions spot on is Path of Exile for PC, the game is 100% free to play and isn't remotely pay to win either. All the content is available in game and the only way to achieve or get stuff is farming / being good. The micro transaction store is just for weapon effect or character graphics, and people will more than happily pay for it because its not essential so you don't feel cheated and will support the game. I just wish more dev's would realise this and stop ruining what could be great franchises but to a quick money grab scheme.

To be fair I have 0 problem with microtransacrions in free to play games. Even if there is a long tedious grind in there afterall the game is free to play. In £55 retail games they can seriously go frakk them selves, If I pay that kind of money for a game I want to be able to access all the content on the disk by playing the game none of it should be hidden behind a pay wall. Day 1 DLC is also a massive piss take, if it's day one it should be on the disk. Thing is muppets buy day one DLC, and use microtransactions in retail priced games. Hopefully this doesn't kill the gaming industry, soon as you start implementing microtransactions in retail games or any game there becomes an incentive for the devs to make normal gameplay a grind, to push people towards buying the MT options to skip the grind, and the game suffers, bit like forza 5.

Gave the Beta version of Titanfall a go yesterday and it's pretty cool. Not exactly been impressed with the graphics of the Xbox One or PS4 yet though they are basically glorified versions of their predecessors. I was hoping Titanfall would be the game that showed off the capability of the Xbox One but if i'm honest I've seen much better graphics on the 360 and PS3! Kind of feel cheated at the moment.

Even the final retail game is going to be running at 900p. Very few Xbox one games run at 1080p. They seem to be placing 60fps above getting 1080p native.
