Re: Sonisphere 2019

I'd say the chances of us being at Knebworth in 2 years time are slimmer than the chances of us being in the same field next year. At the risk of sounding like Mr Bear, if BMTH really did get bumped for Aerosmith on the basis it was a farewell tour, that's 1 DL headliner already in the bag for 2018....

Re: Sonisphere 2017

I understand someone has Priest as an exclusive with a new album to promote and it isn't DL or BOA. Could be RM I guess, but could equally be Soni Friday headliner, which I personally think would be a good fit.

Re: Sonisphere 2017

After all the talk of GnR, Metallica, etc, if Download end up with Linkin Park, Blink and SOAD that's hilarious.

Also, if Kili can't put together Sonisphere with 3 headliners that outdo that effort there's something seriously wrong! :)

Re: Sonisphere 2017

The daft thing is that now we know Maiden ARE doing an arena tour, he'd have got it right for once if he'd stuck with his original statement!

That knowledge also casts a massive doubt on there being a Sonisphere in 2017 as far as I'm concerned though (if there wasn't already).

I would imagine it'll be Maiden finishing off the current tour.

Whoever else it is, I'm assuming they'll be up against a DL line-up of BMTH, GnR and Metallica.

My guess is second stage headliners plus they're announcing WWE NXT for 2016. Will keep the kids/people who like oiled-up men in spandex pants pretend-fighting happy.

Re: Sonisphere 2016

To be fair, I'm going to have to stick up for metalicbear on this occasion, (now that he's posted a link to his source). Ticket sales ARE quoted in the article and the article cites information sourced directly from DEAG. The only bit that Mr Bear appears to have misread is around Rock im Revier. It...

If it's going ahead it's on a different date - New Knebworth Country Show in the events diary for July 9th and 10th.

Re: Sonisphere 2016

IF it were to go ahead this year moving it back (to the original end of July/start of August dates?) would make sense. With Stone Free taking place 18th/19th June they've only got a 2-3 week period between the two otherwise. 6-8 weeks between them would give much more breathing space and clearer run...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Sorry, I thought we were talking comparative size as Kipper's original comment was that Kili may struggle to compete against LN/AEG in a straight fight to sign a big headliner for a festival, based on how much they could afford to pay.

Either way, it would be a major shock if it did happen this year.

However the DEAG website looks like it was a failed GCSE project

2014 turnover figures:

Kililive £21million
DEAG £172.6 million
Livenation £6.87 billion

DEAG bought a 51% share in Kili for 4 million euros (£3 million).

Yes, it's small.

According to Zac it's not definitely off as it stands, but not definitely on either. Sounds like there's still some work going on.

So I guess that's confirmation that the only thing to confirm at the moment is that there's nothing to confirm!

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Whilst frustrated, I do have sympathy with the promoters. An established, annual festival (Download, R/L, IOW, Glastonbury, etc) can tie 1 or 2 headliners into binding contracts early, safe in the knowledge that it will go ahead even if they have to approach a smaller or less popular headliner to fi...

Official GnR announcement tomorrow. Will it be a full reunion, just Slash, or Slash and Duff? Will they announce anything other than US Tour dates? Guess we'll find out soon.

These are the dates I found for AC/DC in 2016 - 15th May - Paris 1st July - Vienna 16th July - Lyon It looks like Stadium shows. Although if Sonisphere was on the 15-17 July, it would be easy for AC/DC to play the Friday or Sunday at Sonisphere. http://blog.concerts-metal.com/acdc-european-tour-201...
