Re: So we've dodged a few bullets!

He's right about some of them, but Muse, Priest and FNM are really good bookings for DL. Hats off to them for getting Muse actually. They are a band who are big enough and mainstream enough to be able to choose what festival they play at, and normally end up playing frakking Reading or Glastonbury. ...

Actually they played soni 2009 and they were rad. Most of the people on here agreed.

Re: Best live bands?

Oh gooseberry how could I forget Dillinger! Saw them a few years back. My friend decided it was a good idea to be down the front.. 1 minute into the first song the singer jumped off the stage and his knee went right into my friends face. He had to miss half the gig as a result  Crazy, crazy ban...

I... did not notice that. When you look at the area around the stage from that view, it makes it look so small. When you're actually in it, it looks massive.

Re: Metal Hammer/Kerrang Ratings

It's good that they don't talk. Not every band has to have banter between songs. Mastodon are one of those bands who just cut the bullshit, get on with it and play.

Re: Metal Hammer/Kerrang Ratings

Mastodon seem to be from the school of, the crowd came to see us play so thats what we'll do rather than talk every 30 seconds. I'm more than ok with that. They were also ace. Well, yeah, that's all well and good, and I'm not dissing their show because they sounded great...but they looked really bo...

Re: Metal Hammer/Kerrang Ratings

I love Mastodon, but that definitely was not a 5k performance. To say they were 2 better than 'chains on that day is absolutely insane.

and 3 for Devin is fine. The guy is awesome, but that performance was nothing more than average.

[list] [*] Car park exit - This was one hell of a mess... Yep. My mate and I left Metallica slightly early (when they went into Seek and Destroy, didn't need to hear it for the 305645645th time) because we wanted to avoid the rush out of the arena. Turns out there was no need as we weren't getting ...

Re: The 2014 Rant Thread

The police presence. Do you wanna tone it down a bit? even on the Sunday they were out in force in the car park and at the campsite entrance. Riot fans, sniffer dogs. the lot. Bit OTT isn't it? It made it feel like a prison. I suppose the only thing they are worried about are filling their bloody cr...

Only went on the sunday  Gojira 6/10 - good start to the day, but yeah they're better in doors. They really need to play some different songs though. Devin 4/10 - what the frakk was that? his sound engineer needs to be shot. that's the second time I've seen him now and both times his mix was ho...

Ok i'm going to make a proper list now. Musically - As tight as they are on record. Literally no mistakes or sloppiness. Even on the vocals (so that excludes Megadeth  ). Good. Their live show really needs it.

The bit in 'one' where he says "landmine.." sounded pathetic without the corresponding "BANG!" to go with it. There are more examples obviously, but that one disappointed me.

Re: Glastonbury lineup announced

Different reasons being speculated - though I do believe all shows they've done this tour have been laser heavy instead of pyro. One reason is potentially due to having fans on stage - would pose a safety risk. Another being pyro is too expensive so to save money/maximise profit they've cut down on...

Re: Glastonbury lineup announced

I hope Metallica are better on Sunday than they were at Glastonbury. The crowd was shite, Metallica were boring, I hope it's not going to be a repeat of 2011. Metalicbear, you do talk some right bollocks sometimes. They were only "boring" because it was a cut down set of 90 mins that only...

I'll say the same thing that I say every year. For all you people worrying about bad forecasts, they can't accurately predict the weather until at least 24 hours in advance. You can speculate all you want, but no one really knows what its going to do. and yeah... that year at DL was hell. Was the on...

I'm traveling from Brighton, but I'm only going on the Sunday I'm afraid. Wanted to do the whole weekend, but my band has a gig on the Friday so I had to concede and get a day ticket. Furious I have to miss maiden doing a nostalgia show AGAIN. Last time they're doing it as well :-x

I think its hilarious. They are saying that the bands politics go against the festivals values, which is bullshit when you consider the subject matter covered in Metallica songs. Also a lot of the people liking this facebook page have absolutley no clue on the context of the bear hunting. Hetfield i...

Re: Monday 12th May - Announcement

I think budget must be a key thing here. They have 2 massive headliners that would have been quite costly, and to get the festival running at the best they could, I think they had to cut back on the size of some of the undercard bands to make it work. As much as I love TesseracT, I agree, their musi...

Re: Anyone else frustrated will BabyMetal?

Yes, the only measure of where a band should play is 'how many people want to see them'. Obviously. I appreciate the sentiment, though. I too feel that bands on the line up that I don't like should be replaced by ones I do like. I also think it's great that people try and rationalise their subjecti...

I think what he means is, BabyMetal are a pretty much unheard of band. And all of a sudden they're one of the biggest bands on the lineup purely due to hype, as apposed to actually earning the spot like other bands have to. It annoys me how so many amazing metal bands have to constantly release good...

Re: Sonisphere ban legal highs - continue to sell parapherna

When I read the bit in that article that says legal highs claimed 68 lives in 2012, I LOLed a little bit. That number is not even a fraction of the number of alcohol related deaths every year, yet the establishment and the people don't bat an eyelid. Forget bongs, crack pipes and synthetic herbs bei...
