Sonisphere 2019

I figure we're not going to hear about next year either, so might as well plan for a possible 10 year anniversary.

So, what do you think the chances of us all being in a field at Knebworth in two years time are?

Other than Iron Maiden and/or Metallica headlining (as is tradition), who else ?

Re: Sonisphere 2017

Yay, you guys are still here!

So, looks like no fest for me again next year unless something magical happens and Soni resurrects. Maiden at Nottingham, but would much prefer to be back at Knebworth out in a field

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Given they were 'working on it' since last year's cancellation, I find it hard to understand how they've not come up with ANYTHING. Going back to the original vision - smaller scale, multiple small stages with smaller bands, wtf wildcard bands, flip flop main stages, in August - would refresh the br...

Is it my imagination or has the Soni UK website just changed CMS? If so, would this indicate it's not dead, and work is being done on it?

Re: Sonisphere 2017

The irony is that Soni was the one that did things differently - always a couple of curve balls in there (Bjorn Again, House of Pain, Bill Bailey..), with a stacked undercard. Going for Queen seems to be where they jumped the shark and started looking for Big Names, who then let them down at the las...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Last year, I was thinking Maiden and Sabbath for Soni, but obviously so were DL. I reckon Maiden will finish the world tour at Soni next year, which would suit me just fine. Much as I'd love to see these 3 (I've not seen Sabbath live, now it looks like I never will), the undercard won't be great, an...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

DL is Maiden's only UK show of 2016 so no arena tour later in the year sorry guys. Tbh, their headline of Final Frontier at Soni was pretty 'meh',but that was right at the start of the tour. They totally stomped it at the end of the tour when they came back to the UK, so I'd rather see them later o...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Gutted Maiden are doing DL, but they must do another arena tour later, and I won't miss that for love nor money. Really worried its intended to kill off Soni, but Mr Soni has been working on next year's fest since this year fell through, so I'm holding onto to that last vestige of hope that we'll al...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

I did think that was it when the forums disappeared, so very relieved they're back! :bow-yellow:

And to the main question, wonder whether Black Sabbath might do their farewell gig at Soni now that's been shifted from Japan to next year and a new album is on the way. New album from Maiden as well.

Re: Sonisphere Knebworth not running in 2015

For those anywhere near Nottingham or Bristol at end of April, the Hit the Deck fest is a pretty good one dayer for £30 - Skindred, Cancer Bats and WSS plus more. Caught some pretty good new bands, and some favourites each time so far. Looks like it's the only fest for me this year

Re: Sonisphere Knebworth not running in 2015

Gutted, but not shocked. Sounds like they really tried but ultimately defeated. Next year will be frakking AWESOME though. Maybe Soni will become biannual by default... Personally, mixed feelings. They were looking for a later weekend which would have fitted my being put the country in July, so now ...

Re: Announcements coming soon

Having Soni every 2 years would save lot of this hassle, and firm things up in the calendar for longer term bookings for both venues and bands. I suspect we may now be holding on for a Maiden announcement, but, to be honest, I'd rather see them at Soni at the end of the tour of the new album rather ...

Re: Announcements coming soon

So are we now thinking it may be back to its original end of July dates? If so, I'm not so concerned about timeframe for announcements. Come on shift of dates! Less competition with DL, gives people a breather, better weather. I've always argued the original dates of beginning August were better. I...

Thoroughly appreciate Zac and Dok coming in to update us. It's got to be hard wanting to say something but knowing that whatever you say isn't going to be helpful. I'm split here. Yes, as AC/DC don't have any problems of their own at the moment, they'd be ideal headliners for an uncertain festival.

Seriously, I'd love AC/DC to headline Soni at some point, but I'm not optimistic their world tour is going to happen either.

Re: Announcements coming soon

Given that it looks like it's too tricky to put Soni every year and maintain the standard that everyone wants, maybe there's more merit in having it as a biennial event, rather than playing the will-they-won't-they game we've been playing every year since 2012, which is damaging the brilliant reputa...
