Re: Are Babymetal the strangest thing you'll see at a festiv

Certainly not the strangest, but definitely the shittiest. Overhyped idol product created and promoted to death by a talent agency. Nobody will remember them in a few years because they've got zero integrity and all they have to offer, apart from "cuteness", is a creative void. Pure garbag...

Re: The 2014 Rant Thread

The screens on sunday should have had a black backing - however according to eLOL - not seen this confirmed by kili/team soni themselves. There was an issue with the backings and lighting rigs and the wind where the backings wouldn't stay up and fell over, which obviously could be a potential safet...

Re: Rate the bands you saw

One of the downsides of being a member of the press is that you run around so much that you don't really get to see a ton of bands. But the ones I did see/shoot: Gary Numan 7/10 Band of Skulls 6/10 (musically not bad, but kinda boring onstage) HIM 5/10 Limp Bizkit 8/10 (REALLY not the kind of band I...

Re: Not sure when to set off

A couple of years ago, some friends and I drove in and out each day, and didn't really have any major issues. You will definitely encounter a bit of traffic but it's nowhere near as bad as Download, where I've taken up to three hours just to exit the parking lot at the end of the day.

Re: PANIC! Urgent lift needed from South Wales.

Unfortunately I can't help you with a lift, but are you sure you can't afford train tickets? Something I've learned over the years is that there are ways to get massively discounted tickets if you investigate different routes. For example, last year I took the train to Derby for Download - if I'd go...

Thanks man. I've proud of this. I should paint more and sell them. But who's going to pay £500 for a jacket... Hate to be a killjoy, but that's called copyright infringement ;-) Actually, technically speaking this is infringement too but since it's a one off as a gift you'd be unlikely to get chase...

Re: Anyone else frustrated will BabyMetal?

Basically Music is a product and we can be as elitist as we want but unless a band is giving all their music and t-shirts and what not away for free, then you are looking at a commercialised, manufactured product. Some more than others but ALL of it in some way is a puppet of the industry and lets ...

Re: Anyone else frustrated will BabyMetal?

You really don't think that dressing women up in schoolgirl outfits with big pigtails, and getting them to prance around singing in high pitched voices isn't infantilising them? Japanese pop culture (and frankly their wider culture at large) is notorious for its infantilisation of women. Frankly I f...

Re: Your top ten bands to see

Slayer - Never seen before don't know too much about them but they seem a bit more legit than the usual show ponies of Metallica and Maiden Slayer were absolutely the best band of Hellfest for me. Seen them live quite a few times before but they were absolutely phenomenal the other day, so I've got...

Re: Anyone else frustrated will BabyMetal?

BabyMetal are the best band to come of the last i'd say 10 years which automatically makes them worthy of being on Apollo i'd even have them subbing if i was in charge due to how great they are. I can only assume you're a 14 year old boy. Babymetal epitomises everything that I despise about Japanes...

Re: Festival regrets/lessons learned

Also wished i'd prayed harder to Dio and Lemmy (he's a living god) for better weather at a few fests like Metal Camp 09 and Graspop 12 (rain) and Hellfest last week (oppressive sun). The sun and heat at Hellfest was diabolical. Combined with the dust, it was almost like being in a desert at times. ...

Re: No Bands Clashing with Maiden

Incoherent nonsense eh? Like them, you INSULT Women! 'Iron Maiden' DO 'Rely on Favorites to keep them going' it's all they ever do. The set is made up mainly of Songs from the '80's, that's 30 years ago!!! You must be one of those 'Fanboi' types that agree that it's OK for 'Acts' like them, to clai...

Re: Church picketing Dios funeral

And I wouldn't class religion and belief as different things, as a religion is just a set of beliefs by which someone lives their life. Of course they're two different things. Yes, they're linked, but the belief can remain independent of the religion. And by religion, I mean an organised system of ...

No, but they understand their religion as much as you do ie. they don't. Sorry, but I am not reading past this. Re: Church picketing Dios funeral

ImmortallyInsane101, I agree with you, although all religion is organised. Even though as an atheist I do not believe in the existence of deities, I see nothing inherently harmful about people wanting to believe in some higher power. But there is a huge difference between believing in something, and...

there's no correlation between religion and hate I don't know how anyone could possibly say that. Of course there is a correlation between religion and hate. Re: Church picketing Dios funeral

They're not even classed as a religion, they're a hate group. Religion is a vehicle for hate. It always has been, and it always will be. The Westboro Church are a truly despicable lot, but they're no worse than millions of other religious bigots across the planet. Picketing funerals is absolutely d...
