Re: What gigs have you got lined up?

I'm off to Slipknot/Korn and Steel Panther/ Skindread, both in Manchester.

I'm also tempted by Gogol Bordello and Amon Amarth. I'll wait and see if I can be arsed.

Bands you don't want to see at Sonisphere 2015

Rather than the usual list of bands you would like to see headline next year, which 3 bands would you not want to headline and why? For me: Muse - I can't stand the lead singers horrible whiney voice. Their popularity just baffles me! Bon Jovi - They just won't let hair metal die the death it deserv...

Re: The 2014 Rant Thread

Im guessing you are a fan of the butlins red coat guy running around with a flag shouting 'scream for me knebworth' every five minutes with gigantic puppets behind him. Yeah he was great... I know this is meant to be sarcastic, but even when you describe Maiden like this, you still make it sound FR...

Re: Iron Maiden event shirt

I actually feel a bit cheated by Maiden selling the event t shirt with the date on. That date is what sets us that were there apart from the people who were not. This is no longer the case, any Tom, Dick or ThornDavis can claim to of been there. Whilst on the subject of t shirts, all the official So...

Re: Rate the bands you saw

The below are the bands who I saw all or most of their set. The views stated are strictly personal and possibly clouded by alcohol intake, so you may not agree with all or any of my opinions. Friday Limp Bizkit - 8/10 - A great set that really got the crowd going. Prodigy - 7/10 - if it was 1997 i'd...

Re: The 2014 Rant Thread

I had a top weekend. I only have a couple of complaints 1) The beer prices, £4.90 a pint! 2) The dirty great post slap bang in front of the stage at the Jagermeister tent. 3) 5 minutes between bands on the main stages doesn't give you enough time to have a slash, get a beer and possibly some food. T...

Re: The 2014 Rant Thread

The fairground rides should have been instructed to shut down or at least turn off their awful music when the dogfight was going on. When you could hear the engine roars it sounded incredible but half the time it was a recorded voice telling you to buy tokens. The toilets - It seemed remarkably unf...

Re: Stage Times and Placements

I have noticed that they have changed some of the times. Will it be Beastmilk or Reel Big Fish, The Bronx or Anti nowhere league, The Prodigy or Demonic Resurrection? Decisions will be made at the time. Beer will probably be a big part of this. Because of this, I'd wager the phrase "it seemed l...

Re: Stage Times and Placements

The Clash finder is really helpful. I'm a bit disappointed Anthrax clash with Limp Bizkit, but I suppose I can always watch them on the Saturday. I was a bit worried about Sunday evening as I'm not fussed about AIC and Dream Theater, however it turns out I will be able to catch The Bronx, Anti Nowhe...

Its going to be my first time in the UK. We're staying in London for 2 days after Soni. Are there any MUST see places while I'm there? We are staying at the Kensington Close Hotel. I definitely want to hit some pubs and see the sites. :) I used to work at the Kensington Close hotel as a night porte...

Water in the arena

I was wondering if there will be anywhere in the arena area where I will be able to fill a water bottle rather than buying it.

As I've got older, I learnt how important hydration is when you come up against Alcohol and hopefully heat!

The Mrs is driving me down from Stockport on the Friday.

She is from St Albans, so she will spend the weekend with her folks while I spend 3 day stood in a field with a beer in one hand and a tab in the other, listening to music that will hopefully make my ears bleed.

I think that if anyone is that desperate to watch the World Cup then they shouldn't have bought tickets to a festival that runs over quarter-finals weekend. Why not request that Sonisphere shows the Wimbledon finals, the Tour de France and the British Grand Prix as well? Thank you for your reply Bl...

No sorry, we're not showing it. You can use the shuttle to hop into Stevenage to the pubs if you like though. Even though it's highly unlikely, I can't believe you wouldn't show the footie should some major miracle happen and England reach the quarter finals! There again, you've already go our mone...

Re: Is That The Lineup Complete.....

Bizkit are the perfect festival band to either headline a 2nd stage and let people go on a high or sub main get everyone going for the headliner. While they haven't put any new material that is stuck, they were massive and have songs that will be stuck with say the 21 to 30 year olds that make up m...

Re: How well do people reckon it's selling?

Maybe there are just not enough people to go around for 2 big metal festivals? There were enough people all those years when it was essentially Reading/ Leeds VS Download, when they were the 2 giants of rock festivals, and there was from 09-11. At the end of the day, we have no idea of how ticket s...

I don't think Download is doing that well this year.

I was looking at a post on their forum which said that they were opening two less campsites than they did last year (Orange and Brown).

Maybe there are just not enough people to go around for 2 big metal festivals?

Another underwhelming announcement!

At this rate I won't need to turn up until 7pm on the Friday, and I am going to have quite a bit of free time on the Saturday and Sunday.

I got my 3 day ticket on the strength of the first 3 announcements, I should of waited and saved myself some dosh.
