Re: Sonisphere 2017

So, Sonisphere Facebook page just posted about Metallica's new album. COULD IT BE A SIGN? Please let it be a sign. Download is awful. SOAD I would watch just to see them, the other two headliners I actively dislike. If Sonisphere doesn't happen next year, I'm off to Hellfest or somewhere in Europe. ...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

I think the biggest part of the announcement was Jane's Addiciton. That is a massive massive announcement. I am excited.

Re: Sonisphere 2016

If they do it really late, like September or something, maybe Download will have been forgotten about and I'll be able to persuade my partner that I should be able to go to another festival. :)

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Agreed. The major draw of a festival is getting four days away in a field without having to look after children. Going away for one day then means having to come back and look after children the next day when absolutely shattered!

Re: Sonisphere 2016

IIt's absolutely disgraceul that they haven't said anything whatsoever. People keep asking on the FB page and on here and it's constantly ignored. There may be a band they are talking to and they can't say whether it will go ahead until the band has signed or something, but to not say anything at al...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

When quiet camping toilets get closed on the Friday again, I expect you to smuggle me in to VIP area to use the VIP facilities, which I assume will have proper bathrooms with carpets and flushing toilets and sofas and stuff.

Re: Sonisphere 2016

It doesn't seem so, which is a bit annoying at this stage really. There has been nothing from the team. Nothing. Despite all I've previously said about not going back, I've won a VIP upgrade for Download, so am heading there! Really excited about it now tbh, I wasn't committed to anything fest wise...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

For anyone who doesn't use Facebook, it says: I'm a contractor at knebworth . I have been told since the summer it is booked. Bands are booked, AC/DC, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Linkin Park and a one of the biggest bands ever. They would not say which one because they had not announced the come bac...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

There's 300,000 people who like the Sonisphere UK Facebook page and there are regularly people asking if it's happening. You'd think that if it wasn't happening, they would respond with a "Sorry, no it isn't".

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Yeah, and then one band (we assume AC/DC?) announced they weren't playing, so before that decision it could have been going ahead. I assume it's the same situation this year but possibly with GnR.

Re: Sonisphere 2016

They must still think there is a chance of a festival going ahead or they would have said that it isn't by now. I have no idea how much chance, but if they knew it wasn't happening why on earth wouldn't they say something?

Re: Sonisphere 2016

There weren't enough toilets. I missed entire band sets queuing for the loo in the arena. We were in family camping and after the rain on the Friday night, they couldn't empty the toilets for the rest of the weekend, so they just closed them. That's a pretty nice situation for people who have taken...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

If you have to plan your time off work 9 months in advance then you're in a rubbish job and you don't deserve to go to festivals. I work for the NHS . We have to have our summer leave in the summer before... So 12 months in advance! So yes, we do have to plan that far ahead. Well, there you go. Acc...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

That is an astonishingly strong lineup of headliners. I hope it doesn't mean they've spunked too much to get a decent undercard. I suspect that I will probably be going DL and possibly in Family camping, but I'm hoping that it is better than this year where they didn't bother to empty the toilets af...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Apparently DL are announcing all headliners next week and there is an interview with them all in next Wednesday's Kerrang. Now, perhaps I'm massively optimistic, but with the combination of them announcing all headliners at once and releasing early bird tickets recently, it does give me a feeling th...

Re: Sonisphere 2016

I see that DL have just announced early bird ticket (a bit later than normal). I wonder if that is because they're aware there is about to be an announcement of a rival UK festival and they want to get as many tickets sold as possible before people realise they have a choice. </EverTheOptimist>

Re: Sonisphere 2016

Yeah, I would imagine that both Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden would command about £1M to play at a festival but if you're confident that having Sabbath on their farewell tour will sell enough tickets, you could replace Maiden with stuff like A7X and FFDP and pay about a fiver and a packet of chips a...

Yeah. That link screms out "G'N'R are playing Sonisphere 2016". I don't see how anyone can read it and not come to that conclusion.
